R8 [Official] 2013 Audi R8 Facelift

It will be interesting to read how the new S-Tronic transmission is received by the press and how it's software differs from other applications, should turn an already exceptional car into an epic one.
If you ask Tumbo, the car become epic once it was revealed :D

I say Bring it on! It's about god damn time. And I think the R8 is more then ready for it.
And if we're talking 2016, the new R8 will be ready by then. So, bring it on :)

BMW (hopefully) will, and by the sounds of it, it wont just bloody the R8s nose, it will knock it unconscious!! You see, while the R8 is good, by virtue of the fact it has four wheel drive it will never be as good to drive as rear wheel drive competition, which is what this class is all about. The McLaren MP412C is better than the 458 in every technical way, but it has lost to the Ferrari in every comparison test one should care to mention. Why? The Ferrari is more fun, sharper sexier and theres a greater sense of occasion, a greater sense of "joie de vivre" felt when when driving the Italian. I also cite the ebullient reception the Lambo Gallarado Balboni garnered ( which was shorn of its 4WD). The tech that DEFINES Audi will always undermine it in this super talented segment.

I've yet to read a review that complains about how the R8 drives or the emotion/entertainment it provides. It's not really about which formate is best its about which formate is best suited to you, only a complete and utter dick buys a car this expensive based on the opinions of others and not what he/she feels most comfortable with, maybe you should think about that one for a minute.;)

Personally I would welcome a BMW supercar because it's long overdue, if it's quicker then that's great too because it's keeps the competition on their toes and makes them work harder on its replacement.

All I'm saying is that 4-wheel drive adds weight, makes it less efficient and robs the driver of some steering feel thats all;)

^And that means sweet FA if it's the car that suits you best. Frankly I would much prefer the car that gives me the most pleasure driving and would probably be quickest in than drive something I feel less confident and slower in, especially if the car in question was a supercar.

Maybe you should go drive an R8 and see if you feel the experience is diluted some what but I reckon the opposite is true.

Yes but rear wheel drive does not instantly make a car an uncontrollable mess!! Handling is what sorts the men from the boys in this segment, and you really cant argue that 4WD doesnt take some steering feel away, steering being the most commonly criticised things among among modern cars handling traits. My point is that people will undoubtedly have a big 4x4 for use in adverse weather conditions, so IMO its pointless having a 4WD supercar. Plus the sophistication of modern cars traction and stabilty controls further lessens all-wheel drives grip advantage.

^What sorts the men from the boys is the acknowledgement of your limitations and realising what formate suits your driving ability best, too many here think they are god's gift to driving and are nowhere near this.

Steering feel - owning Porsches and a Lotus I know how the very best at this feel and to be honest with you the R8 is less than them but not to the point that it effects the overall experience plus it's chassis is more forgiving and controllable IMO which allows it to be utilised more than most by drivers who aren't professionals.

I repeat my advice of driving one and then decide whether it's anything less than its rivals.
