R8 [Official] 2013 Audi R8 Facelift

The Audi R8 is a mid-engine, 2-seater sports car, which uses Audi's trademark quattro permanent all-wheel drive system. It was introduced by the German car manufacturer Audi AG in 2006. Production ended in the first quarter of 2024. Production: June 2006 – March 2024 (45,949 Units), Model years: 2007–2024
Now it is more difficult to differentiate between R8 V8 and R8 V10. Even if DSG is a good upgrade, I'd chose the manual transmission, the last manual to use the aluminium grid. Even Ferrari doesn't have that anymore.

I drove an R-Tronic R8 a while and didn't really like it so the switch to S-Tronic will completely transform the car in my opinion, never driven the manual version though I've driven the F430 in manual with the metal gate and though it's got a great feel I didn't rate it that great when driving fast and performing multiple shifts per lap, though to be fare familiarity may improve this opinion.

Sorry to be harsh, but I think you just can't drive manual. Looking at the list of the cars you owned, none of them are manual. The S5 maybe ?

A spectacular automobile with improved looks. What's not to like? I love the blue as well, is that a matte finish or is it just the photo's being altered? Any improvements under the skin?

It looks even more like a super-car with this update. Great job Audi!

I don't know your age or what you do but myself I have been driving for almost 30 years and the majority of this time has been in manuals, most of the wife's cars have been manual so frankly this statement is laughable. Heck I use to rally in a manual.

If you understood the UK then you would know this to be true because where as in America most enthusiast desire a manual to us we don't see the big appeal as it's normal practice driving a manual, it's the auto and semi-auto which are considered desirable.

Well, so I'm mistaken.

If you have a built-up criticisme against such a gate patern, OK! But if it is just that your opinion is a fact, like RWD < AWD, then I don't care about your subjective tastes. I drove a manual Gallardo (500 PS) and found it great, the gearbox and everything. To prove me wrong can you please elaborate?

I've driven the F430 in manual with the metal gate and though it's got a great feel I didn't rate it that great when driving fast and performing multiple shifts per lap.

Man.. Manual is like living the car. It's what driving is all about. I love my S-Tronic Q5, but it's nothing when I compare to the raw manual 300hp A4 that I have. You are in control.. And no machine.

^You have to understand what I mean by the above statement. When I need to shift fast and constantly on the track I found it too slow and the movement less fluent because of the gate but like I said I wasn't overly familiar with the car, it's clutch or the gearbox so my opinion might change with more time behind the wheel.

P.S.
I completely agree about driving a manual, though when you suffer from a bit of arthritis in your left ankle the pleasure in stop go traffic isn't that great which is why I now chose clutchless. (y)

It is not that without the gate you can change gears more fluently. Main reason could be that the gate is not very nice, comparing this three cars, the R8 gate looks like being the best. And if you felt uncomortable changing gears in the F430, it is jsut becasue it is a Ferrari. They are not easy to drive like the ones of today. Even a girl can drive a 700 PS Aventador.

That is another story mate. Sorry for you.

Audi gave what it's enthusiasts wanted...
BMW gave people the F20 :)
If only there was such a car in the BMW line...

I continue to say the same, though the M3 is one car that BMW continues to get right time and again. If only they added a proper R8 equivalent instead of the i8.

The i8 doesn't bother me at all... but I want a real super car from BMW :)

Co-sign to that.

MB has got the SLS AMG, SL63 Black Series, SLR... And BMW...? Nothing. Very weird.

Anyways, I just love that R8 V10 plus... Just as fast as the R8 GT. Do you guys think that Audi will do a new GT, even stronger than the V10 Plus?

It will be interesting to read how the new S-Tronic transmission is received by the press and how it's software differs from other applications, should turn an already exceptional car into an epic one.

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
