C-Class W204 Official: 2011 C-class (W204 facelift)


The Mercedes-Benz C-Class (W204) is the third generation of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class. It was manufactured and marketed by Mercedes-Benz in sedan/saloon (2007–2014), station wagon/estate (2008–2014) and coupé (2011–2015) bodystyles, with styling by Karlheinz Bauer and Peter Pfeiffer. The C-Class was available in rear- or all-wheel drive, the latter marketed as 4MATIC. The W204 platform was also used for the E-Class Coupé (C207).
I wish Mercedes would stop debuting their interesting world debuts at off-site events and debut them at Detroit. The SLS AMG e-Cell is nice, but we've seen it since the summer. Although Edmunds says that MB has a C-class fl somewhere in cobo....
 
I can't believe it, the C-Class is finally complete. Interior + engines, its two biggest issues. I still wish the C300 had about 260hp though.

I think MB is trying to make more money here. The 4 banger engine probably costs less and they will keep the same price as the 2010 C300. The C350 will get a price increase since it is more powerful now. The C300 4MATIC is to keep some in the snowy regions happy as an essential option. What we need is the C250 CDI by the end of this year. I just don't know what is holding them back. Come on MB, make it happen before the new 3er shows up.

I think Mercedes should go all out. I notice that now there are no more "luxury" versions? If that is right then they're really going for what people actually buy, which are the sports.

The C250 should have 4matic as an option though, IMO.

I want a C350 4Matic too, but people simply don't buy enough C350s to warrant it I guess. I saw a C350 4Matic, but then I noticed it had a Canadian license plate on it.

I'm guessing the coupe will be C300, C350 and AMG version only. I can't wait to sit in the coupe at the dealer this summer, could be my next car.

Well you know that is in interesting thing. I see why people drive older Mercedes, you just get so used to them and you don't want to give them up no matter how degraded the driving experience (age etc.) is vs a newer one. If I get rid of the CLK it will be for a used CL550, not a C350 Coupe. If I go the new route I will likely keep the CLK. I really want like an 08-09' CL550.

A good Benz is always a keeper. ;) It it's well maintained, it'll always look new, or classic.

.... And the resale will suck so bad, it'd be pointless to sell it. :D
 
True, but the CLK Cabrio actually enjoys higher than average resale for Benz. Well it would if I hadn't been piling on the miles!

I've yet to see a US press release with any info about engines.

It will be a real shame to make all these improvements and not have competitive engines. If they keep the same, then MB will lag behind in power and efficiency.

I thought MB already did. The C250 ( 1.8l turbo 4 cyl) , C300 4MATIC, and the updated C350 ( 302hp) are the ones. I hope they will add the C250CDI by the end of 2011 by the time the new 3er show up.

I agree. I think they either update the 3.0l from 228hp to about 240hp or make it bi-turbo to 300hp . In either case it could happen in 2012 or 2013 , just before the new W205 appears.

As of right now we don't get the updated 300 hp C350 in the US. It is the old 268hp version. Whether the new 2012 gets it, I have no idea. We've yet to get a V6 with direct injection. The C300 is currently 228, which is anemic when compared. The 350 should have gotten up to at least 315 hp, IMO as the competition has been well past 300 hp for a while. Then you have a sensible spread of 50+ hp and can justify pricing differnces. Heck 205/ 255/ 305 would make sense. Which is exactly why I don't think MB will do it. I am assuming that the US is getting the 4 banger? If so, I think you just scrap the 300. I just don't see the point of offering two v6 engines that are that close. You can't honestly tell me that there is any cost difference in making a 3.0 and 3.5 liter engine. So, value price the 350 and take a bold step in capturing a large part of the market share. Oh wait, that makes sense.

302 in your top V6 is a little behind the curve. The only advantage I could see is offering a lower price than the 335 due to non-turbo.

Bottom line is competitors like Infiniti are offering their best V6 without having to pay a premium to get it like MB is doing. Plus MB doesn't have an advantage in content or prestige. The g37 is a flat awesome car and great bang for the buck. The V6 is freakin unbelievable. This segment is way too competitve to keep repeating old habits. Take freakin control.

That isn't the bottom line anymore, they have G25 now with a lot less power so you now have to pay more for the G37. Furthermore power isn't everything as the G37's V6 is a loud, corse mess when pushed.

^That and MB costumer will is totally different from infiniti one for sure even if he is shopping for an entry level Benz sedan.
 
Please keep in mind that automakers have to offer the mass with a wide range of engine options not just bigger/more power ones. Prepare for the higher gas price , and I mean $4 /gallon or higher.What people need for the C is around 200-250hp with a good gas mileage. Most of the time you drive it by yourself or with one or two people. The C is just a premium compact car, not a luxury car. It is a good looking , fairly reliable, decent performance and all it needs is a good gas mileage ( >25mpg combined) in order to sell well.Oh, I would not pay more than $40K for it.

You know, I have the 268 HP V6 in my car, and it's more than fine for my needs. Sure, I'll take, and be happy with more power, but I won't lunge after it, in this particular car.

Now, Gas Mileage is what bothers me, and is what is antiquated in this day and age, with the current motor. You have cars pushing 300 HP that get over 30 MPG on the Highway. My car has been getting a lousy 13-14 MPG in my traffic filled city (another reason I don't care for more power, it'll go "wasted"), which bothers me as it's not coming because I at least have a 500 HP engine that's drinking it all.
