Hot DAMN that interior IS nice. Much much muuuuch better than the previous.

And, I'm not usually one to gush over LED's for the sake of it, but those headlights look gorgeous, ESPECIALLY when off in fact, as it looks sinister and dark as hell. When the lights come on, the glam effect comes into play.
thats funny stuff:D

i'm really impressed now.

The rear arch actually seems quite sensible now

No wonder why some Korean cars looks so much like MB or vice versa. Having said that, the current C-class does look Asian-ish, or Jap-ish, it has extremely similar proportions and even looks to the Mitsubishi Lancer, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Ahh, the gates to flame world hell have no opened as BMW and Audi fans can now rightfully call every new Benz Korean. While we're at it we might as well label the Enzo a hotted up Honda NSX -- after all, it was penned by Japanese industrial designer, Ken Okuyama*pictured*.

Having monitored this thread since for a few days I've finally conceived an opinion about the car. As a noted fan of the CLS Mk.II, I have been curious about the successor for a while, but who wasn't? The CLS was a radical concept for a passenger car, an oxymoron too, a practical four door coupe! The success of the model wasn't solely in the door and body style configuration but more in the execution. Designed to make an impression on people(negative or positive), it is the one of the first four door cars that has more aesthetic appeal than comparably or even more expensive coupes. Sex sells, and the CLS has sex appeal aplenty.

It's hard to design an iconic car, but even more so, develop a successor that will garner the same reactions as the orignal car. Let's use the Mazda RX8 as a case study. Although it has negative Fast and Furious connotation Mazda undoubtedly created a unique sports car. I'm not its biggest fan but I appreciate the two door hatches that make it easier for rear passengers to climb into the cockpit that is a triangle galore, telling the tale about what type of engine is under the bonnet. Sadly the development of the car has been stagnant, Mazda has failed to innovate the concept and has instead been wasting time releasing mini-facelifts on an annual basis. The car is now passé to the point that the successor need to be a revolution if some life is to be injected to the RX-8 brand name.

Mercedes on the other hand have managed the CLS perfectly and the new model is stunningly gorgeous. Highly recognisable as a CLS but nonetheless looks brand new. It's a car to adore, dream about and desire to own. From the exterior to the interior I cannot fault it. The wheel arch and intersection character lines are examples how for a few lines can make a strong impact -- unlike Korean and Japanese designs which nowadays feature a multitude of decorative lines. I give the car two thumbs up, let's hope the new SL is equally as gorgeous.

Come on guys, what's the big deal if you see some japanese DNA in a german car. The new E-class looks like a Lexus but why is that a bad thing? I hope it's not a racialist issue.

What i can understand this edition1 costs 10K with carbofibre package and 6585 without..:)

Maybe the germans can explain further:)

^^^ Yeah that's pretty much it. Plus you get Designo stuff and special colors in this edition 1...
Damn expensive btw :D :O

BTW, on the old CLS I didn't like the frontlights, and on this new CLS I have to say I don't really like the backlights. It's not bad like the frontlights of the old CLS were bad, but still they should have given this car the backlights of the Shooting Break Concept. Would have been perfect.

I guess in the LCI we will see them.

This is truly gorgeous, unlike, any other Merc I can think of in modern times. it's not handsome or elegant, it's just sexy and pornographic, really sexy and all about passion.

Design for design's sake, just to please the eye and evoke passion. Very un-german in fact!!

I love it, can't wait to see that work of art in the metal!!

Awesome this is just brilliant it looks more and more amazing with every picture released...

ITS FINAL

I am selling my C63 soon for a CLS..

I am in love guys..
