CLS [Official] 2010 Mercedes-Benz CLS

The Mercedes-Benz CLS (initially called the CLS-Class) is a series of executive cars produced by Mercedes-Benz from December 2003 to August 2023. The original model was a four-door sedan based on the Mercedes E-Class platform, marketed as a four door coupé. An estate (shooting brake) model was later added to the model range with the second generation CLS.
I'm curious as to why Ken Lee is getting so much attention with this release. :eusa_thin

Why is Gordon Wagener not hogging the limelight, as we know he loves to, and why did Karim Habib not get 1/2 the attention of Mr. Lee.

I think because he's Asian. :t-hands:

I hate to state this so frankly, but if you look at future GDP forecasts and growing markets, it makes sense. It is also wise from a marketing and business sense to highlight the international aspect of the brand in these trying economic times.

Exactly. Just like how the Asians were so vocal about the fact that all their new small city cars are designed by EUROPEANS, for the European taste (and it shows, to be honest, lastest KIA/Hyundai/Toyota cars fit in extremely well)

Do you think it's actually MB marketing using Ken as an ambassador to appeal to the Asian Market? Thats rather desperate really. :eusa_thin And I've always thought the appeal with these brands were derived from their 'european' or more specifically 'german' heritage, even in Asian markets.

Oh well, we're getting off topic here.

I can't believe we haven't seen any more interior colours. :t-banghea

I have a feeling that is the case. For what it's worth.

Maybe I'm just crazy though. :D

Either way, I love seeing these designers talking over, drawing up, and obsessing over their designs. Very powerful. I secretly always wanted to be a car Designer when I was younger (maybe not so secretly :D)

Could he just be a really good designer who just happens to be Asian?

It is nice how MB has given some aknowlegement to the actual designers like Karim and Ken. Designers from other companies tend to be faceless and nameless other than the chief designer.

Hot DAMN that interior IS nice. Much much muuuuch better than the previous.

And, I'm not usually one to gush over LED's for the sake of it, but those headlights look gorgeous, ESPECIALLY when off in fact, as it looks sinister and dark as hell. When the lights come on, the glam effect comes into play.

Is that other guy Karim Habib?

BTW, is that red one a production car? Anyone notice how tiny/thin the B-Pillar is from the inside of the car?

Wow the interior looks awesome and i really like the ones with the wood i dont no now whicjh interior i should choose if i get one next year i think the grey with the black wood but i actually like all three..what you guys think...

Nope, that is Carsten Ertelt, the project manager of the new CLS. Karim Antoine Habib is the one below:

Ah. Interesting. Seems M-B is drafting them young. I always thought of, and remember Car Designers being older. This is obviously a calculated and thought-out move by M-B, I assume.

We've seen the 5 trims now ; 3 different woods in the pics above, plus piano and carbon.

They said 5 interior colors. So far we've seen 3 ?

I wonder what the other 2 are ?

With all the creases, I think it looks best in Iridium Silver but I don't want the boring black or grey interior, but beige is not available for Iridium ?

With white exterior you should definitely go with beige, because all the silver cars will have the black and grey interiors.

I'm hoping one of the 2 colors still not unveiled yet would be cream (lighter than beige, like the W220 S-class) but it would present an ever bigger dillema for me as Merc won't allow silver exterior with cream interior.

Is there an option to further customize the color combo beyond Merc's preset ones ?

If mercedes did a proper launch at;east i can start planning what colours and stuff here in SA the dealers dont even no when the new CLS will be comming so damm pathetic...

I am thinking of a CLS 250 cdi hope it comes 7g i would like a 350 cdi but i think ill stick with teh 250 cdi my biggest problem is i had a chat with teh family they say iff i want to get a CLS i need to sell my C63.now things are just getting more confusing.

Why don't you get rid of the your other CDI's the C or GL.

The C220cdi is basically now used by my mum .

The GL 320cdi i will replace when either the new GL or ML comes depending on the 7 seat option on the ML.

I love the C 63 but i think this CLS is just something else i will see how the pricing goes whe they launched in SA if its not too bad i may go for a CLS 350cdi but from my calculations i think it will be a CLS 250cdi just hope it wont be sluggish because then i wont go their..

The C63 is a monster but its a mosnter regarding fuel and my tyres rear tyres mainly.
