CLS 350 CDI Stop Start?

Question - I have read conflicting information re the CLS 350CDI re stop/start technology. Will this be available on this model. It is confirmed on the CLS 250CDI however the updated Brochure says it is not? Why would this be the case if not available? ( I have a German PDF version of the full brochure)

Looks like it's delayed on the CLS 350 CDI:

A new feature in the CLS range, ECO Start will be available with the 350 (petrol V6) and 250 CDI (four), but not immediately with the 350 CDI diesel V6 -- although it will happen eventually, Benz tells us.

Thanks for that. Well I have placed an order for E350 CDI however it will not come to AUS until AUG 2011. Hope it is in production by JUN 2011 or the re sale may be an issue if it say comes out 6 months later!

I went to the foodstore (?), and spottet the A7 (about 10 min ago). Nice to look at, and not as hatchback as in all the pictures (surprise ).

But my personal opinion is: It doesn't even beat the C219 in terms of exterior looks (or the interior for that matter). Maybe because I didn't really take my time to look around the car? Nevertheless, I have a feeling the CLS is going to be much more appealing. At least for me.

And luckily for me, the A7 was parked next to the CLS 55 AMG Love that car.

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Force Goes On Patrol

The Mercedes-Benz Fashion Force is taking to the streets of New York City in the new 2012 CLS 63 AMG to spot "stylesetters" with fresh, creative design looks and arresting appeal. Stylist Brad Goreski and a team of Fashion Enforcers are on duty for five days during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week carrying out its mission.

Making its way from Lincoln Center, home of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, to the chicest neighborhoods in downtown Manhattan, the CLS 63 AMG Fashion Force car outfitted in its official badging is pulling over at the sight of a stylesetter and rewarding them with a ride to their next destination. Each stylesetter chosen by the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Force is going to have their picture taken and several are receiving invitations to Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week runway shows as well as an invitation to the official fashion force culmination event, hosted by Brad Goreski in the Mercedes-Benz Star Lounge.

"The Mercedes-Benz Fashion Force car is a statement about New York being one of the greatest fashion capitals of the world and the confident approach to individualistic style that people strive to explore throughout this amazing city," said Brad Goreski.

Fashion Enforcers include an impressive list of leading fashion bloggers including: Lauren Sherman of Fashionista.com, Jace Lipstein of Grungygentleman.com, Leandra Medine of manrepeller.com and Kristian Laliberte of Refinery29.

"Mercedes-Benz has a natural affinity with the world of fashion with cars that appeal to those with a strong sense of style," said Lisa Holladay, manager of brand experience for Mercedes-Benz USA. I saw my first CLS on the road this past weekend. A black 350 Sport. Good Gosh it is an amazing piece of design. It truly stands out in it's environment. You can't walk past it without keeping your eyes fixed on the gorgeous lines for less than 5 seconds, and then taking a second look.

It's one of the best successor designs I've ever seen. Brilliant job by MB. The CLS lives on as the epitomiser of four door coupes. It's sleek coupe shaped, arousing and seductive. There are no faulty to be found.

It's all a matter of personal perception, I reckon.

I find myself almost startled in recognizing my own rapid disinterest in the still quite new CLS. Unless the car is extremely elegantly (or flamboyantly as in AMG 63 CLS) appointed, it has simply stopped catching my eye. I can't really explain why. Perhaps there is simply far too much going on with regard to the exterior design details, the flank sculpturing. And that has exhausted my old eyes .

After viewing BMWs' new 6 series coupe (which I think is one of the most visually attractive offerings of any German manufacturer), I suspect that the upcoming 6er Gran Coupe is going to blow the CLS out of the water. Perhaps not in terms of sales... The GC will probably be far more expensive than the CLS or A7, I reckon.

Will the GC not be a direct competitor to the CL? In which case BMW has NO hope. MB owns this market.

If I owned a Mercedes dealership I would want him on my sales force!!! On the other hand,,,,maybe not ,,,he would spend more time digging up for videos than selling cars !!

Went to the dealer to check out the W212 about half an hour ago. However, I kept checking the new CLS.

It blew me away totally! In person the lines really works (at least for me), and it's simply a stunning vehicle. I went with my dad to check out an E-class, but the CLS really captured both our attention. The GC has to be insanely good to beat it in terms of looks! The CLS also seems much smoother than the E, and that's exactly what it's suppoused to do. Jesus christ, what a fu***ng gorgeous car.

Yeah in pictures I've seen of the two next to each other, the CLS has much curvier and more sensual sheet-metal, while the E seems a bit sharper and more angular. Can't wait to see the CLS in person. There are some elements I cannot get around yet, but I know in person I'm gonna drop my jaw.

Got my first look at the CLS today. Absolutely gorgeous. The headlamps are so detailed up close. All of the lines looked really nice, especially the ponton-style over the rear wheels.

Mercedes locked the car; and wouldn't open it, but the interior seems beautiful. I'm a bit disappointed that the center-console cupholders won't be covered on US spec models though.

Lol..They always do that here in DC when it's new. At least you got to see the CLS in person...they brought the old CLS to the DC auto show. I almost threw a chair at one of the sales associate I was so mad.

I've seen the car three times now. Its more eye-catching than A7 but the rear is a disaster. I dont know but MB seem to have problems drawing a nice rear. I mean, the front looks great so does the interior but then you see the rear and you lose all your air.
