CLS [Official] 2010 Mercedes-Benz CLS

The Mercedes-Benz CLS (initially called the CLS-Class) is a series of executive cars produced by Mercedes-Benz from December 2003 to August 2023. The original model was a four-door sedan based on the Mercedes E-Class platform, marketed as a four door coupé. An estate (shooting brake) model was later added to the model range with the second generation CLS.
^^^"Rear is a disaster" is an exageration!!!
I agree rear does not do justice to the rest of the car and interior, but not a disaster!!
Rear and disaster, equals Volvo C30 (no offense!)
Mercedes did such a stunning job with the rest of the car, they eased up on the rear( they designed the car during the day, went for dinner and came back to the drawing board after 10pm, needless to say everyone was tired and wanting to go home, so they came up with this rear,,,,not too bad, after all that coffee,,,,!!!)

I think the rear end design is far more fluid on the CLS than it is on the A7. The A7 suffers the same high-butt syndrome that plagues the Panamera. I've seen both cars in person and the CLS just feels more 'premium' for lack of a better word.

I can't understand the dislike toward the rear.

The rear is my FAVORITE angle of the CLS. The side is what's questionable to me, while the front is typical good/solid M-B Sports Car front (which is a huge compliment of course). The rear looks very elegant and classy, and sporty enough. I find that it ties classic M-B looks with modern M-B looks back there. MUCH better than the original CLS's butt.

Saw and A7 on the street. Oh my goodness......hot. CLS finally has some competition.

Indeed.

With both the CLS and A7 becoming more common sightings on their German home market roads and motorways, I cannot help but detect my own rapidly diminishing interest towards the CLS' visual characteristics. It is beginning to age very quickly in my eyes and no longer manages to really grab my attention. Unless of course it's AMG spec'd with nice 20" rims and a rather unusual yet befitting paint color.

The sight of a nicely spec'd A7 continues to fascinate me, especially with the S-Line package. I very recently saw a white A7 3.0 TSFI with S-Line and light silver 20" RS4-style 7 twinspoke rims. IRL, the A7 is simply so athletically elegant.

Funny, for me it's the other way around. :eusa_thin

I've actually only seen one A7 so far which was kind of "cool". It was black with very nice rims, and the owner had obviously just washed the car, in addition it was a hot sunny day; it looked pretty good. However, that's the only A7 that "turned my head 'round". Even the first time I saw it, it didn't really capture my attention. Just didn't.

Same doesn't go for the CLS. Only seen it twice on the road, maybe that has something to do with it. :t-hands: Anyway, it's more fresh and has that "WOW!" factor. To me, the A7 simply doesn't. Looks kind of weird. And even though some might not like the CLS' characterline, I'm sure they'll take it over the A7 butt. ;)

Mercedes makes me sick. Now the AMG pack is standard, but you have to pay extra for the right sized wheel to make it look complete/right. Whatever.

Lol...Mercedes needs to make that money. You know they are going to charge for every single thing they can.

Either way the car looks magnificent.

Oh for christ sake, MBUSA being lazy and shallow with the Options again. Now the AMG Package is standard on the CLS too!? Why don't they let us ENTHUSIASTS pay extra for some *exclusivity factor*.

My biggest beef with my W212 VS my W211 with AMG Package was that my W211 stood out from a pack of W211's even in stock form, as it had the exclusive and rare AMG Package.

Now, MBUSA just put mass consumer/mass sales above all else. I understand the need to make money, and mass sales are the point, but damn, cater to the enthusiasts as well. Europe still does, with all the aesthetic Packages, and M-B did with all of their previous models.

And WTF is up with the hideous cup-holders sticking out? Us freaking AMERICANS and our obsession with cup-holders! :D

It's like someone dropped a hamburger on a beautiful painting.

Back from my dealer. Sorry guys but I'm not feeling CLS. Its a confusing car with lines and strange design elements. I cant think of something good about the car, not from exterior point of view. I did fit in the backseat which is positive (185 centimeters tall).
New SLK impressed me more. Looking much better than CLS.

Ok, I feel a haters gonna hate picture coming.... ;)

How do you feel the design compares to the W212 (I understand that you're not a fan of either design)?

Can't wait to see it. I think the reverse wedge line is a deal breaker to my eyes, and although I find the "CLS look" to be gorgeous in its own right, it hasn't really spoken to me yet (for example, I preferred the W211 to the original CLS), but then again, I said many things about the W212 were a deal breaker, until my eyes figured the design out and fell for it. I'm gonna go in with an open mind, and hope for the worst (I don't want to like the CLS, because I don't want to have to spend more money on cars :D).

Overall I prefer E-class sedan, particulary the front. But my favorite is E-class Coupé. Go figure..

The interior of this car is sublime! It strikes the perfect middle ground between the austerity of the E and the overly flambouyant curves of the A6/A7.

Mercedes Kicherer CLS Edition Black First Look

The color on this Kicherer makes the CLS looking at its shrkiest. It also makes the side profile more flowing. I think that the CLS looks much better in colors that are not shiny as they tend to hide the ugly side lines (imo) that make the car look awkward and bulbous from some angles. IMO one of the nicer kits on CLS.
