CLS [Official] 2010 Mercedes-Benz CLS

The Mercedes-Benz CLS (initially called the CLS-Class) is a series of executive cars produced by Mercedes-Benz from December 2003 to August 2023. The original model was a four-door sedan based on the Mercedes E-Class platform, marketed as a four door coupé. An estate (shooting brake) model was later added to the model range with the second generation CLS.
2012 Mercedes-Benz CLS63 AMG coming to LA Auto Show

Not long after Mercedes-Benz took the wraps off of the shapely new CLS-Class at this year's Paris Motor Show, sources within the automaker have told Autoblog that the AMG-fettled CLS will bow at next month's Los Angeles Auto Show.

Much like the revised S63 and CL63, expect the 2012 CLS63 AMG to use the automaker's new twin-turbo 5.5-liter V8, churning out 544 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque. That power will be managed via Merc's latest seven-speed AMG Speedshift automatic transmission sending power solely to the rear wheels. An AMG Performance Package will be on hand, as well, boosting output numbers up to 571 hp and 664 lb-ft. We can't wait to experience this beast firsthand.

Naturally, expect a bulgier, more aggressive exterior appearance complete with large AMG wheels and a host of LED lamps up front. Interior refinement will likely feature sport seats, a smaller-diameter steering wheel with paddle shifters and, of course, carbon fiber trim.

Sweet! I'm finally excited to see a brand new car that I've never seen before in the flesh, at the Auto Show.

Comments sections (and those who participate, at that) in most Blogs are complete garbage, but there are a couple of funny comments in that Link, lol.

I really like this car. I love the design, both in the front and in the back. However, the most interesting and appealing part of this car, at least to me, is the interior. I just love how classy and luxurious this car is. Perfect balance MB.

After taking some time off from the car, and viewing it in some "less dramatic/glorified" pics, I think that downward crease ruins it for me. I can see it aging FAST, as it was an odd "ugh, that again, seen it too many time already" sensation when I saw it (side profile), and I haven't even seen them in person or on the roads yet.

When I see it in person, no doubt the sparks will fly again (hopefully), but I'm speaking on how I'll perceive it after seeing it on the roads for some years. Very non-timeless those lines.

Anyway, I'll have pics from the L.A Auto Show it looks like for you all to see. :D Anyone know the exact dates for the Show?

....Err.., I'll just look it up with my lazy a$$.

Nice Job and welcome! The door line will look a little different on a coupe, but it looks great nonetheless.

Thank you very much!
I know!
This work is 2 minutes.
My vision of that cls class should only be a coupe!:)

In the newest issue of Germanys' Auto Motor und Sport magazine, the new CLS 350 CDI is compared with its' competitor Audi A7 3.0 TDI. The CLS won the comparison by the slightest of margins. The M-B took honors in the categories engine and safety features, the Audi came out on top with regard to interior space, comfort, handling and costs. In a supplementary article, the CLS and A7 were parked in central Stuttgart where passersby were invited to voice their opinions about the cars. General consensus was also pretty much on an equal par, the younger audience finding the Audi more attractive and "cooler" while the somewhat more mature audience prefered the M-B. This actually surprised me as I would have thought that it would be the other way around, the CLS being arguably a bit more dramatic and, well, extraverted for lack of a better term. Age wise, I would be consider mature by anyones' standards and personally find the A7 the more visually attractive car.

Jimmy, did the A7 beat the CLS in terms of RIDE comfort or INTERIOR comfort? I'd be incredibly surprised to hear the A7 riding and handling better than the CLS.

In terms of ride comfort, the A7 scored a very closely contested victory just nudging out the CLS in terms of spring/damper absorbancy, rear seating comfort and interior noise. All else was equal save the front seat comfort, which went to the CLS.

The A7 edged the CLS out in the subcategories of handling, dynamics, and obviously traction (Quattro). Steering feel went to the CLS, as did the smaller turning radius. In the category of engine characteristics, the CLS' 350 CDI beat the A7s' 3.0 TDI in terms of refinement and torque. The CLS' tranny was also the smoother shifter.

In the end, both cars were very, very close being separated by mere nuances. Simply a matter of taste.

I'm surprised the Audi (an Audi) scored higher than a competing Mercedes in interior volume. I know my W212 is incredibly quiet, so either the CLS doesn't muffle the outside world as well (frameless windows might play a part in this?), or the A7 is simply superbly well done in terms of keeping interior noise down.

The Audi is just more low key. Still not bad. Just haven't warmed up to the rear yet.

I can agree with you.. but don't you think that "low key" and a four dour coupe don't work together very well? I mean, when most people see both cars, which one do you think they are more likely to buy :) People who are looking to buy an extravagant car, which is what a 4 door coupe should be, are not looking for low key

Wanting to pass a bit of time after watching the Abu Dhabi GP qualification session (GO Vettel), I drove down to a local Audi center to see what they had in the showroom/on the lot. They had an A7 demonstrator parked outside-black with black leather, 20" 5 spoke RS5-style rims and what I assume is the Titanium Package (rims a gunmetal color). A sinister looking thing. A car I imagine Darth Vader would approve of. A bit too dark for me, but whatever. I made a somewhat odd observation that the A7 actually looks more like a modern Jaguar than the XF and new XJ do. Its' length-accentuated design, low height and impressive stance somehow had me thinking: "Hmm, a fitting successor for the Series I XJ6". Even the A7s' grill looks a bit Series 1 XJ6ish if you really squint your eyes.Strange, but probably not a bad thing for Audi I reckon.
I have yet to see the new CLS in the metal and am really quite excited to experience how it measures up to the A7 in a real life environment.
