XJ Official: 2010 Jaguar XJ (X351)

The Jaguar XJ is a series of mid-size/full-size luxury cars produced from 1968 to 2019. It was produced across four basic platform generations (debuting in 1968, 1986, 2003, and 2009) with various updated derivatives of each. From 1970, it was Jaguar's flagship four-door model. The original model was the last Jaguar saloon to have been designed under the leadership of Sir William Lyons, the company's founder, and the model has been featured in countless media and high-profile appearances.
According to previous reports the XJR is suppose to have the 510hp V8, but their will be an even more powerful XJ then the R model. I'm guessing that will be the one with the special body kit.

Sounds stunning - so there will be a S 63 AMG and S 65 AMG competitor! :eusa_danc

I like the interior, though it doesn't really remind me of a Jag interior or make me think it's a Jag interior especially for the flasghip luxury car. Though I know they are going for a more sporting image. I def can't see the usual Jag buyers. 70 + age in the US to be buying this car, but that's probably good for jag as they probably want to reduce the avg buyer age.

The outside just doesn't look british.

The front is definitely stunning! :icondrool The headlights look so much better than on the XF.

On the other hand, the side and especially the rear are somewhat baffling.
The unusual design elements around the C-pillar and the trunk/rear lights remind me of French car design (eg. Citroen C6, perhaps even something in common with Renault Laguna Coupe). I also see similarities with many other cars like Bentley Continental GT (trunk) and some Nissan model (rear lights) that I can't point out. The rear lights also share some resemblance with Lancia like somebody said already.

The interior is pleasantly unique and looks very luxurious. Great job, Jag!

Sorry guys, but this is one ungainly, goofy arse, ill-shaped car in pics. Front looks good, but the side profile and rear are just poop. Definitely have to see this one in person. This was designed by the same guy that did various Aston-Martins and other Jaguars like the XK? Hard to believe. The XJ looks much better balanced/proportioned.

Interesting ... Live pics of this car look much worse than the press pics. :t-hands::eusa_thin

The rear overhang is gigantic, i now understand why they designed the rear that way, but the illusion isn't working on IRL shots.

Many of the recent cars suffer the same syndrome; The Ferrari California, E-Class Coupe, Panamera and 5-Series GT. All can only be fully comprehended in the metal.

Looks like it has the head of a Sperm Whale. It's got a hint of Aston in some places. I like it.

Autocar - Jaguar XJ in the cold light of day

Matt Saunders

It’s the morning after the night before at Jaguar’s Saatchi Gallery launch for the new XJ. This morning a fresh load of B-list hacks were invited to see the new car in the raw, eight hours after the A-listers who saw it at the glitzy launch party proper last night.

More importantly though, this morning and into the early afternoon, Jaguar’s got two XJs doing laps around London’s city streets. So today, we finally get to see the new XJ in context. Which is when we can all make an informed decision about whether it’s a spudder or not.

For what it’s worth, I think the car’s a very smart design – in both senses of the word. It’s fresh, it’s avant-garde, it’s perfectly proportioned, and you certainly can’t help looking at it. A Quattroporte’s prettier, sure – but, though it takes some getting used to, I’d say this Jag isn’t far behind.

And I can say for definite that it looks nothing like a Citroen C6. From any angle. I love the long and elegant waistline, the long rear overhang and the ‘raptor’s eyes’ headlights. The cabin’s impressive; not so elegant, perhaps, but attractive and brimming with technology.

I love the touchscreen above the centre stack; it can display a DVD movie to the front passenger and the usual system information to the driver at the same time.

Works a bit like one of those old-school holograms that change as you move your head. Very clever.

Disappointments? Well, I can’t sit in the back without my head hitting the headlining, and I’m hardly a giant at 6’3”. The boot still ain’t enormous. I was also a bit dismayed to hear that there will be no ‘R’ version.

The 503bhp supercharged V8 will be called the Supersports instead, and have a more relaxed tourer-type character. I think it’s a shame, even if all I’m mourning is the passing of a badge.

Mike O’Driscoll talked about the new XJ being ‘a tipping point’ for Jaguar. We all know that the company’s had a tough year, like so many, and there’s clearly a lot of hope that this car, alongside a strong XF and XK, can push it back into rude health.

It’s no secret that XJs haven’t sold as well as the German opposition for a decade or so. This one’s got the potential to be the market leader, I’d say. Well done boys.

So guys you finally saw what I was trying to tell you since the begining ? this is a f***ed up car. Sorry but to my eyez this is worse than the X type.

Yeah Kowalski I was waiting for your permision to leave. Great now that I have it.

The pisonheads gallery has a few pictures of the new XJ in dark gray that look amazing. I get the feeling that in person, this is a very wide, very long, very low car which should look striking, and can't wait to see it.

Ok it doesn't look as bad in the video in motion on the street.

It seems like they went for a Bentley/Maserati/CLS combination. Heavy body, low roof, pointy front end. Still will wait until I can see it in person before final judgement is made. I don't see how that rear end and black out roof pillar will ever look "right" though.

Hmm the videos give me a better representation of the car vs the pictures.... From the back, it looks very heavy...a bit Bently-ish. The profile is so long and low. And there's too much rear overhang. I only like the front... Damn I really really wanted to like this car!:t-hands:
