M3/M4 Offical: Production E92 M3

The BMW M3 is a high-performance version of the BMW 3 Series, developed by BMW's in-house motorsport division, BMW M GmbH. M3 models have been produced for every generation of 3 Series since the E30 M3 was introduced in 1986. The BMW M4 is a high-performance version of the BMW 4 Series automobile developed by BMW's motorsport division, BMW M, that has been built since 2014. As part of the renumbering that splits the coupé and convertible variants of the 3 Series into the 4 Series, the M4 replaced those variants of the BMW M3. Official website: BMW M
Im just waiting for some retard to start shouting "Aprils fool"...

The car looks fine. Specs looks fine to, just waiting for the weight.

YES!!! This is good news. I can't believe that some people are still complaining about the hood. It's not going to change so stop complaining. I love the whole package. And those fuel economy numbers sound real good...but I wonder how reliable those are going to be in "rear-world" driving. ;)

I love it. I didnt like the concept because it was too overstated. This thing is toned down a bit and it looks dead sexy. What an awesome peice of machinery.  4.8 is a great time for a manuel box-just wait till teh duel clutch comes out!

No R-tires for the M3?
So guys I say it once, dont expect this car to beat the RS4 around Nordschleife, The RS4 had R-tires and new M3 doesnt seem to get R-tires. And as we know, R-tires can cut several seconds around a highspeed track.

You might be right about the tires...but this M3 has a much better advantage than tires....it's a freakin ///M car!!! Lightweight, flexray, flat-torque, high-rpm and dual clutch? I don't think they really need R-tires.

But who knows BMW might offer them in the Competion-package? :t-hands:

but still R-tires is R-tires, a huge advantage on a track. Im just telling you guys dont be shocked if the RS4 turns out to be faster. Prepare yourself ;)

Love the side profile! Not mad about the power dome and I hope the rear is less fussy than the concept (the M6 rear is hid-e-ous).

But my favourite 3er coupe is the 335i.

It will be much more comfortable, more economical and same amount of torque! Here in Johannesburg in South Africa we are at high altitude so I think the 335i would be almost as quick as the M3 but with many comfort/economy benefits over the M3.

Life is hectic, traffic is hectic - I want an auto with plenty of power and torque and all the comfort amenities please! My daily driver is an SLK 350 which is loads of fun, but you get sunburnt and the roadster thing can get a bit hectic on the kidneys on long journeys... I am only 32 and sound like an old man! ha ha!!

Im with you on this one, it will be very hard to get below 8,09 without R-tires!

The huge and heavy M5 ran 8:13, if I recall correctly, on street tires. If the M3 fails to beat the time set by the RS4 because M has spec'ed inadequate tires, then M has lost its way.

I do not think R tires are needed as long as the tires are reasonable (not contis), and the weight is not out of control. PS2s are really fabulous on the street and the track, far beyond the contis and PS1 tires fitted on the E46 M3.

If the RS4 is faster, then the simple fact is that Audi has done a better job in this particular segment than BMW. Put another way, if the M3 cannot beat the time set by the RS4, that suggests to me that Audi is right and Quattro is the way to go even for a performance car.

Well, then Audi has done the better work with their RS4. And yes, I will convert into a RS enthusiast instead of a M enthusiast.
A lot of BMW fans is going to have sad day once sportauto tested the M3.

I have finally started to drive my E46 M3 again now that the weather is better where I am located. It is fantastic to rev that motor, and feel the suspension loading in turns. I love the car, and I want to love the new M3. My wife drives a 530xi, which is also a great car (too bad for us the turbo motor was not available in 2006 when we bought it).

BMW builds the cars that across all product lines best appeal to me from the standpoint of performance, feel, looks and value.

But I am a pragmatist. If there is another manufacturer out there doing a better job right now, I will be disappointed in BMW, but I will not stick with BMW out of brand loyalty.

BMW is a business, not a religion. Its cars are products to either buy or not.

Huh? PS2s are great for street, but don't even come close to a properly warmed up set of R compounds on a track - I have a set of pilot cups I use for auto cross - the difference is day and night.

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
