M3/M4 Offical: Production E92 M3

The BMW M3 is a high-performance version of the BMW 3 Series, developed by BMW's in-house motorsport division, BMW M GmbH. M3 models have been produced for every generation of 3 Series since the E30 M3 was introduced in 1986. The BMW M4 is a high-performance version of the BMW 4 Series automobile developed by BMW's motorsport division, BMW M, that has been built since 2014. As part of the renumbering that splits the coupé and convertible variants of the 3 Series into the 4 Series, the M4 replaced those variants of the BMW M3. Official website: BMW M
I just hope that it doesn't look understated IRL like the M6. It takes a few second to identify an M6 when you see one, especially one driving straight towards you. I find the front bumper of the M-package to be more aggressive than the E92 M3's front bumper.

BTW killer picture right there just_me

After comparing the side profiles of E46 and E92, I must say that the "powerdome" on the E92 adds some Quasimodo-vibe there...

E46 M4 wowed the crowds, this one...i don't know...:t-hands:

Wowa, some of you have good memories, I dont remember what I thought first time I saw the M3 E46 but I do know what people said about the M3 E46, see my text below if you dont remember :D

People about M3 E46 Concept, year 1999:
its to "ricey"... why 4 exhausts!! not sure about the silver side gills, looks over done.. what's with that hood bulge!...cars to big... im keeping my e36!

ok this isnt M3 V8, just a 335d. But here E92 looks more spectacular than the M3 E46

Just give the new M3 more time on the streets and you will start drooling :D

I have to agree the E92 looks pretty mean in that pic.

I don't know about you guys, but to me, the E92 M3 doesn't look as spectacular as the E46 M3. It looks kinda boring.

And I would have to agree. In my head, the idea of the new M3 (and it's 8 Cylinder) are highly interesting, but I'm far less interested with it's exterior design.

Although, I suppose I feel the same way about most new vehicles :t-hands:

EDIT: Quoted Yannis by accident

No offence to any owners out there, but the E36 is my least favorite M3. The E30 was a real monster. The E36 seemed too tame in comparison.

ha ha ha...that's funny because lots of people said that E46 seemed too tame compared to the E36...LOL

I guess, after a while most of us will get used to the looks of the E92 M3.

:t-cheers:

looks like expected..they didnt change alot from the concept..
near nothing
the seats look dissappointing compared to RS4--

ohh and i still have the same concern..it didnt strike me with that WOW like the old one did..
but still it will be one HELL of a car.. be sure of that

I'll reserve my judgement until we get firstly a confirmation that those are actually official pics, and also just wait for more pics to get a more well-rounded view of the new M3.

If we assume that these pics are indeed official/accurate, then it looks like the M3 will have a CF roof ... or are my eyes playing-up on me?

Again, if these pics are to be believed, then it looks like M has opted for the standard BMW kidney grille rather than the one shown on the M3 Concept.

Seems like it has an identical side-skirt to that of the M6. In fact, this car has an overall look that is very similar to the M6. Seems like BMW is creating a family-within-a-family when it comes to coupes and sedans from the M stable.

I must say, I didn't know that the RS4 claimed the title of the fastest production sedan around the 'Ring from the M5 by using R-tires while the M5 simply used stock-standard tyres. So on an even playing field (ie: both with the same type of tyre) would you say it's a fair comment that the M5 could well match RS4 - maybe even edge half a second ahead ?

I guess the question arising between the new M3 and the RS4 is (assuming M3 doens't have R-tyres): will the lower weight of the M3 make up for the absence of R-tyres?

Can it be done?

The answer to all 3 of those questions is:

Can M5 be faster around the ring than RS4? May be.

Will the lower weight make up for lack of R-compounds? Yes.

Can it be done? HELL YEAH!!!

:D :t-drive:

I feel the same way LU. I almost feel as though BMW stole its own thunder by introducing the M-package for the E92 before the introduction of the new M3.

The M-kit's front lip just looks naturally bad-ass. Maybe in real life the M3 change my tune...

One thing I do not understand about some people, is that they consistently have issues with the 'bulge.' Why? The bulge is there in the old E46 M3. What is the problem now? I understand some may not like it, but some--at least to me--act like it is some odd thing BMW has placed on the hood of the car.

Thanks, Klier!

It looks as if BMW is yet again using Klass Zwart's (owner of Ascari motorcars) race track in Spain .
The last time they used it was for the European press, to review and test the M6.

Thats it im ordering one....... Wheres the M line tacho with the increasing rev counter??? Interior does look quite hot but to me!!!!! ANd im not a big fan on light grey interiors

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
