CLK-Class (C209) Next generation CLK (spy pics, CGIs, info)

The Mercedes-Benz C209 is the second generation CLK-Class, launched in 2002. The car was available in both hardtop coupé (C209) and in soft-top convertible (A209). Although its design and styling was derived from the E-Class, the mechanical underpinnings were based on the smaller C-Class. It was succeeded by the E-Class C207. Production: 2001–2009.
The CLK isn't entirely an E-class coupe, it falls somewhere between the C-class an the E-class. But it looks like this generation CLK will have more in common with the E than the C.

That was my point. :usa7uh:

Closer to E-class in appearence - making it to look like an E-class coupe (although using C-Class platform).

MB can market the CLK however they want, but I've always regarded the CLK to be an E-Class coupe. I mean, you could even tell by the way the look alike in many ways. The C208 resembled the W210 and the C209 resembles the W211. It's the same case with the S and the CL.

The only thing the C210 and the W211 have income is the design of the tail lights, the interior and front end are straight from the W203. As I see it Mercedes are taking turns with the CLK design. If one generation resembles the C-class when the next generation will look more like the E-class.

The CLK has always been an in between model, nothing new with this one. Whether or not it has looked it or not, MB has always charged E-Class money for it.

if you take away that bangle boot camo, the proportions look really promising. I'm glad MB have gone for the more aggresive design this time around.

Anyone else notice the headrests? Interesting design, somewhat built into the seat...

I noticed that as well, the seat and head rests do look a little mystic. The front bumper seem to be in the same style as the one on the face lifted A-class which is good because I find the bumper design to be very attractive. like mentioned by bmwfanatic the proportions look very promising.

Looks better. Still though the center console worries me from other pics and the overall shape is still in question, though the proportions looks right here. The CLK hasn't quite lived up to what it should be style-wise since the W208, hopefully this one will turn that around both inside and out. I want truly E-Class level coupe in features, luxury, etc. etc, not just the E-Class price.

At least this time, the CLK interior will be relatively different from the c class unlike the previous model. I'm glad they didn't leave tht pop up screen in for this car. From what ive seen so far, the interior looks CL esque minus the quality :)

I hope to God those aren't the facelifted SL headlights underneath all that camo! :eek2: :t-banghea

A more toned down verision I think. They don't look very good judging by the Spyshots. Almost a very curvy interpretation of the love child between the C Class and SL headlights... Time will tell I guess.

Whats up with Mercedes BORING interiors of late? They are well below par. Quality is well up but they did that with the S and CL and still managed outstanding designs. This, the GLK and the C class have very boring interiors. Lacking in the usual Mercedes Benz class and flare.

Hope I am wrong with this car and the new E Class and they get a similar result to the S and CL... They have shown that they can do it...

MB interiors have always been conservative. Nothing has changed. ;)

I like ur design but the grill isnt right. In the spy pics the grill is a two bar effort like the one on the C63 not Three

Preview: Mercedes-Benz CLK Shooting Brake

Mercedes-Benz isn’t set to reveal its all-new 2010 CLK until early next year but new reports coming out of Germany claim a ‘shooting brake’ concept version will be on display at the Paris Motor Show this October. The concept, previewed by the rendering above, is said to combine elements of a coupe and hatch and is slated for launch a year after the regular CLK coupe.

Mercedes Benz has lost ground in the premium coupe segment against its main rival BMW and its more recent E92 3-series coupe and to bolster sales the carmaker is looking at launching several new variants including this new shooting brake, according to a report from our German partners at Auto Motor und Sport.
For the new CLK designers have followed the style set by the larger S-Class sedan, picking up its high waistline, wedge profile and chiseled front end with angular headlights. The new lights are a departure to the current model’s conjoined circular units, featuring a squared, dual projector look that will be shared by the new E-Class.
Powertrains will be similar to the C-Class sedan including the new 272hp 3.5L V6 engine as well as Mercedes’ 5.5L V8 for the CLK500 (550) flagship. A Bluetec hybrid with a 224hp diesel V6 mated to a 20hp electric motor could also be offered in an attempt to help lower overall CO2 emissions for Mercedes.

Actually I'd take the CLK shooting brake (if executed right) any day over the supposed CLE.
