CLK-Class (C209) Next generation CLK (spy pics, CGIs, info)

The Mercedes-Benz C209 is the second generation CLK-Class, launched in 2002. The car was available in both hardtop coupé (C209) and in soft-top convertible (A209). Although its design and styling was derived from the E-Class, the mechanical underpinnings were based on the smaller C-Class. It was succeeded by the E-Class C207. Production: 2001–2009.
Maybe,but i don't think the rear wheel arch's are right.

I think Huckfeldt is quite accurate with his impressions, like 90-95% accuracy most of the time. It seems that that he got this CLK impression quite right this time, once again.
The wheelarch does seem right and accurate in my point of view.
Look at these spyphoto's below.

You can clearly see that the camouflage on the rearwheelarch bulge quite alot. And also look at the shape of the buldge of the wheelarch and compare this with Huckfeldt's impression.
Aside of that, the new E-class also seems to have a pronounced rearwheelarch as well. And then it makes all sense that the CLK will get bulge wheelarches. It's family designtrade, S-class and CL-class has them as well.
It seems that the more expensive new models of Mercedes-Benz will follow the footsteps of the S-class in terms of design.

Does anyone have a reliable source as to when the new CLK will be available? My dealer is thinking it will be a 2010 model available in mid to late 2009 but I'm seeing conflicting info all over the web.

Thanks :D

Employees received an email this week from the Mercedes-Benz Cars Board of Directors informing them of the financial results for 2007 and the target for the next few years.

The email also briefly mentioned future products. The next generation CLK will debut in 2009 along with the new E-Class and the facelifted S-Class and GL. This matches previous information I have seen that had the CLK Coupe to be launched in the 1st half of 2009 and the Cabrio in the 2nd half.

Great! All will be 2010 models in the U.S. That about the CLK Coupe could mean either Detroit or Geneva 2009, can't wait. Time really flies, I can't even comprehend a facelift for the S-Class yet! Yikes.

i still think that there is same false padding inside that hidden camouflage.

Nice find. Camo is coming off and they are now testing the car in full, with the real tail lights.:)

Hmmmm....looks a little bit better, there may be hope for the CLK afterall.

@Alwing
see the padding were i have marked,this is what i was talking about.if you see the fuel filler cap then there is even more padding that is yet to come off.

I see what you mean and it's clear that it's a padding. However I think the padding is there to cover the real shape of the rear wheelarch and the whole design of the car. Just like the way how it's covering the CLS/CL/C-class like crease over the whole length of the car.
I don't think they would add that much padding if it wasn't for anything interesting. And on this photo below, you see that the rear wheelarch bulge out quite alot.
There's a reason for that in which I believe is the pronounced rear wheelarch like shown in the impression by Huckfeldt they are trying to hide.
I could be wrong though but time will tell. ;)

there will be pronounced rear wheel arc's,no doubt about that,but the design detail will be different from what huck has shown.I think the side edge line will go upto the tail lamps just like in the CL.

Yeah, MB seem to have designed it with wide hips similar to the Bentley CGT.

Yep, it`s true.. I pointed that out sometime back.. The E-Class will also have that design feature. It`s not going to stand out as much as the CLK though.

Realy looking forward to this car. The current CLK is a small favourite of mine and if MB once again can design a classy and elegant coupé like that it will be a winner in my books.

Hard to find anything to hold against this...

Here's a couple of colors I would love to see on the new CLK. On the red CLK I modified the hood line above the headlights to match what I'm seeing in the spy photo. (I know it may just be an artificial line created by the camouflage) I also flipped the angle of the air intake on the front skirt and added the traditional fog lights we're seeing in all of the spy shots. I really hope it gets the LEDs as long as they don't look as bulky as the ones on the new GLK.:)

It looks like the new CLK will (again) be more an E-class coupe than C-Class coupe (in appearence).

So,
CLK coupe = E 2dr coupe
CLK cabrio = E 2dr cabrio
CLS = E 4dr coupe (platform-wise)
E = E sedan
E T-model = E wagon

CLC = C-class coupe (in appearence & platform).
