This homely thing is the next A8? Not in a million years. The interior might be remotely close to the real deal, but the exterior is just a chopped A4/A5, nothing more.

M

We know some parts have been shopped but that's the real car. ;)

It's hilarious to see how people are repelling these images refusing to believe that Audi's design language isn't changing. Same emotions were evoked when Audi presented the new A4. Wake up people, this is reality.

I'm going to make a guess.

I suspect the new A8 will have more curves to it than this -- like the A5.

Indeed it is. Hilarious. I can't believe there are people like Merc who cannot see that this is real. Cannot believe.
It just sucks that the new A4, though almost the same, got better looking compared to the old, and the new A8 looks like crap compared to the old. It looks like a giant Skoda Superb

You're dead wrong :eusa_clap

Nobody here knows anything yet so we'll just have to see. I can't see the next A8 being little more than a stretched A5 or A4, that would be a huge letdown and disgrace.

Due tell how you know for sure. I cannot believe that someone can show pictures of terrible quality which show a stretched A4/A5 and some are eating it up like its a big scoop or some type of real picture leak. That's hilarious to me.

M

Were you thinking the next A8 wasn't going to be a stretched A4/A5 or something :t-hands:

We'll see in a year. Until then I suppose this conversation is pointless, because I doubt we'll see any spy pics or FEP pics of the A8 before it is unveiled...they never show anything...

I really hope it isn't just a stretched A4/A5, that would be a big failure designwise IMO. Yes so I'm expecting more or some differences.

M

it's pretty amusing to see how people are so certain the pix are 100% correct and is the actual shot of the car, whilst it's so obvious that the lamps and wheels are pasted on and the details are manipulated, i guess they've seen the real thing.... and autobild were PRETTY DEAD-ON with the a4, a5, tt and q5 1-2 year before it was debuted just like this new a8.

i think the finish product might look something like what we see now, but i am not sure if this is 100% correct with so many digital manipulations going on in them photos, becuz unlike many of you, i haven't seen the car. shame on me.

p.s. this picture was released 2 months prior to q5's debute, with tons of spyshots(fep) floating on the internet, didn't know a8 was going to be out by the end of 08, thought an audi facelift was suppose to last for at least 2 years like every other audi, and new a8 weren't suppose to release until like late 09 as a 10 model, audi's got us all fooled!

There's a difference between Huckfeldt's impressions and actually spyshots captured behind closed doors. No one here has claimed that Autobild's impressions are always on point by as far as images of an actually car they are pretty much always on point. They blew the new E-class interior close to one and a half years ago.

exactly! which is why this impressions probably aren't as accurate as some of you thought (hoped), as it's pretty established that the images have been digitally manipulated (thus making them not images of an actual car) in an attempt to show autobild's impression of the actual car.

however, i do believe a good portion of what we see from the photo are what we will be seeing in the real thing, autobild probably got some info on the details and general shapes of the light and grill and etc,. of the actual car (i think that MMI unit is pretty damn real), then put the bits and pieces together to form this impression.

I am surprized if you think those pictures are not real. Because they are. It's the real deal....just like the new MB E-class scoop pics. Real deal too.
Interior will 100% be exactly the same as what we've just seen.....

Wanna bet $50???

i will bet $50k that the interior won't be 100% exactly the same as what we've just seen:D at the very very least the steering wheel will be more like this, if not more advanced

More details on Audi’s next-generation A8

The current Audi A8 has been on sale since 2003 and since that time has only received a minor facelift to keep it fresh alongside the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, Lexus LS and soon-to-be superseded BMW 7-series. The minor styling changes implemented during the recent facelift will have to soldier on for a few more years as the next-generation ‘D4’ A8 is, according to latest reports, is expected to arrive in the second half of next year.

A prototype for the car has already been spotted undergoing cold weather testing, hidden beneath the current D3 body. Tell-tale signs that the prototype was the next-generation model included extended fender flares, a stretched wheelbase and wider track.

As the rendering suggests, the design of the new model will be an evolution of the current car. The aluminum spaceframe body will carry over, saving engineers more than 150kg compared with a conventional steel body. The car’s final kerb weight is expected to range from between 1,650kg and 1,900kg depending on the model specification.

Distinguishing features will be a large single-frame grille, LED daytime running lights and a coupe-like profile, reports AutoBild.

Under the new sheet metal will be an extended version of the modular platform used in the A4, but expect to see more exotic materials such as aluminum and magnesium employed to help save further weight and improve dynamics. The base model will remain FWD but AWD variants will feature the latest quattro torque vectoring SportDifferential, which distributes drive individually between each axle and between the rear wheels for improved traction and stability. There will also be electronic control for the air-suspension, steering, pedal response and transmission systems.

The new engine lineup will feature a 250hp 3.0L V6 TDI, a 290hp 3.0L V6 FSI, a 340hp 4.2L V8 TDI, a 372hp 4.2L V8 FSI and finally a 620hp 5.0L V10 FSI reserved for the S8. Audi is yet to decide on whether it will launch a 12-cylinder model, however there are plans for a new mild-hybrid version. There will also be more supercharged units as well as increased application of Audi’s latest valve-lift system. The 6.0L W12 engine is reportedly being phased out due to its high costs and emissions.

Next year will be very busy for Audi as the carmaker is not only launching the new A8 but also a V10-powered version of the R8, the new TT-RS, the S5 Cabrio, A5 Sportback, A4 Allroad, the S4, and a Q7 facelift.

:t-cheers:

I really, really hope they don't do a cut and paste for the next A8. That would be a huge slap in the face to the current car and huge bump in the road for Audi's plans of world dominance IMO.

M

They will. It's bound to happen.....but we know what it will look like already though :D

Some of you guy's really need to stop! First we had to hear the same " I SURE HOPE THEY DON'T ect..." about the new 7-Series, as well as the next E-Class, now the D4 A8!? I don't know about ya'll but something tells me Audi's gonna score a A+ will the new A8. For those not fond of Audi's new design language then you already know your not gonna like it, just like the people not fond of the 911 won't be please with the panerama imho!:t-hands:

The 6.0L W12 engine is reportedly being phased out due to its high costs and emissions.

They are making a 620bhp 5.0 V10:icondrool:bowdown::icondrool:bowdown: But not a 6.0w12?? I'm ashamed Audi:(

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
