A6/S6/RS6 Next Generation Audi A6 (C7)

From what can be determined in that AudiTV clip, the new A6 appears to have handsome proportions with its' shorter front overhang and cab-backwards side profile. The light silver color and what appear to be very elegant larger rims certainly increase the pitch of my anticipation. Having an affinity for the marque, I'd love to see the new A6 as being a truly enticing offering following the IMHO extremely well executed A7 and the somewhat disappointing A8.

This has me wondering whether Audi will succeed in changing my opinion with regard to the aesthetics of classic notchback 4 door upper executive sedans. And a mighty task at hand that is. The F10 BMW 5 series is going to be an awfully hard act to top IMHO.

You could also include the E-class because like the 5er it too is exceptional in many areas. I believe there's a place for all these great cars and I don't believe any are winners or losers because there will always be some elements of their design and execution that will appeal in different ways.

I welcome competition and I reckon so does every manufacturer.

What caught my attention is the rear flanks, in particular how the sharp character line meets the tail lights, followed by butter smooth edges. It's quite handsome and seem to be a similar execution as seen on the Nuvolari concept. But I won't excite myself too much over it given that teasers have a tendency to be misleading.

The site sucks, where exactly do you see the A6 in the vid ? Beginning, middle end ?

Firstly, Audi tv??? What kind of a sick rip off is that from BMW tv?

And secondly, it sucks indeed. I was expecting to see something of the new A6, but I get to see a Japanese guy who talks fluent German and some orchestra playing opera music......???!?! WT F? This reminds me of that internet launch of the new A8. LOL!!!
Needless to say, I closed that window after 2 minutes without having seen anything.

Don't forget to click on 'Der neue Audi A6'

LOL, fair enough. I was too annoyed to even look for something. I'll have another look then, I'm interested to see what Audi has made with this new A6.

The rims on the car look glorious and comparable to these below as far as my eyes are concerned. I'm now optimistic about car to be less boring than the current generation.

The A6 will be as exciting looking as the A7, but in saloon/avant form. But like all Audis it will take big rims to make it look the part.

Footie,

I'm a culprit guilty of commenting on my own, thus subjective, perception of the Audi A6s' competition ;).

Of course, the W212 E-Class is an exceptional automobile in the sum of its' qualities and perhaps, in some areas, superior to the F10 5 series and the A6. It is simply that with regard to the visual appeal of an automobile, the W212 does not float my boat. To me, its' appearance is neither elegant nor dynamic, despite its' pronounced wedge profile. I can't really put my finger on it. Too "upright" and "3-boxish", maybe. Its' ubiquity as a taxicab here in Europe may also be a factor that diminishes its' visual attractiveness, giving it a utilitarian character. Mind you, it could arguably be interpreted as a form of commendation of the highest order that cabbies love the E-Class. They, after all, make their livings behind the wheel.

I'm so glad that I don't live in an area where my car is used as a Taxi. You can't really help but view the cars in a "different" light, as you said, utilitarian wise. Kind of helps eradicate the premium-value of the car.

At the same time, I have talked to many people from EU Countries that use the E as such, and they seem to revel the car further due to that form of use. And it does give us in the States, that extra confidence that our here-Premium cars have that kind of durability and preference record in EU for such rigorous tasks. :D

^ I would like to add about the taxi comment, for a product/brand to be continually used as taxis is a very good recommendation of reliability and durability of it's materials. The E-class hasn't been at it's best but this latest version is right back to top form and in my opinion is the model which Audi need to beat more so than the 5er, great though it is too.

This said I do genuinely believe that the new A6 will be the best in class, but then again I am a little bias. ;)

footie, were the pics that surfaced a few weeks ago from the real car?, have you already seen it?.

If you are a 'successful' (whatever that means) businessman in my country, you either buy/lease A6 or 5er if you have to choose between the three... Those people only sit in a E when they go home drunk with a taxi. And I don't want to downplay MB or even the E class, but this is simply the case. And only with the E, taxidrivers drive no other MB. Or at least, the other models as much as Bimmers or Audis. You sometimes see 5er or A6 taxi too, but it's quite rare...

MB makes a lot of money with it's taxi division, but every upside has it's downside, and the downside is that the E has no image in northwestern Europe whatsoever.

This said I do genuinely believe that the new A6 will be the best in class, but then again I am a little bias. ;)

Audi will be best in class when MB and BMW cease to exist ;)

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
