Re: New 1er spy pic

Hi-rev NA engines are dead! That's a cruel fact.
In a few years petrol turbos will completely dominate the field. Diesels are already turbocharged.

Only some super-sporty brands will still offer high-rev engines - but even that's not sure: perhaps only in combination with KERS or hybrid system.

Exhaust gas emissions regulation is the reason.

Want a hi-rev I6? Buy E46 M3.

Even thou it may be an impossible question to answer, but will we se a return to hi reving engines when/if hydrogen (ex hydrogen7) becomes THE fuel in the future?

Re: New 1er spy pic

Please keep in mind that this is marketing speaking. Marketing tells you what management tells them to.

The only real reason why we will not get real enthusiast spec engines is that it cost too much... of course they are able to build them but they do not care enough about the purist enthusiasts to build them. The gain (or should i say loss) in £, $ and € simply does not justify it...

Your right. A more potent N54 isnt a bad thing in my book. :t-cheers:

Re: New 1er spy pic

If they arent testing something in regards to upping the performance I'm done. They can bring an X6-M and X5-M so quickly but cant do anything special on the lower end of the spectrum. I love BMW but I'm slowly but surely slipping away. I mean both of those trucks will be near 100k AND will suck gas like Amy Winehouse sucks...well you get the picture.

Let's just hope BMW gets a real burn from this. Let's hope their strange plan fails, bad. That is the only way they are going to forget the "Lets build fuel efficient trucks instead of fuel efficient sporty cars" mantra...

They dont have to fail with the SUVs but they shall not forget to build sportcars too.

Re: New 1er spy pic

Unlikely. We all know the M X5 and M X6 will sell like hotcakes...

I disagree. Are the M5 and M6 selling like hot cakes. Those cars get around 10mpg. These are going to tank in the U.S. I can count on one hand how many Turbo Cayennes I've seen in the last 4years.

Just build us a peformance 135i.

Re: New 1er spy pic

US market is out of the question ...

The Russia, China & Middle East want the performance versions of SAVs / SACs. New emerging markets where the BMW buyers give a s.it about efficiency.

Re: New 1er spy pic

yeah what a laugh all those countries which have all those emission laws.

china russia and lots of other countries which don t have those laws are getting the gas burners.

The only thing which europe and usa gets they loose jobs because they rather build cars in those countries. factory s move.

it s just plain stupid.

Let us enjoy cars and driving.

There is more then enough oil supply just tell around it s not and everybody is willing to pay the high oil prices. And the different country s comming with emission laws.

.

It s just easy to give cars the blame so we can ask people to pay more.

BMW needs to survive over this. Also M so they make x5m etc. to sell them in those country were there are no emission laws. And when europe and usa wake up again because they lost jobs and taxes. We will see nice 9000 rpm singing M engines in light and small and nimble cars.

It is just a period of time these emission things. someday it blows over again. And we can enjoy driving again

Re: New 1er spy pic

Swedish goverment want all cars to drink only 5.0liter/100km by year 2011 .

No. It will get worse and worse and worse and worse untill we have a car that doesn't pollute anymore. In a couple of years, the countries you named will have strict emmission laws too. This will never blow over again.

Re: New 1er spy pic

I just bought myself an E90 M3. Gonna enjoy as long as possible. I am 36.

I have had lots of fun cars. If the M3 is the last one with high rev atmo so be it.

I don t spend any money on a 1.2 turbo s or hybrids etc.

Then i can save money and stop early with working. And spend my money on vacations in my other half of my life if i have the luck of getting old.

I only spend money on cars which give me fun. I am not spending lots of money on cars which are just transportation. I can do that with a second hand cheap diesel car.

Re: New 1er spy pic

This well could be a Z2 in early development. The new Z4 is going up market so why not introduce another 2 seater sports car to fill the gap.

Re: New 1er spy pic

My guess would be a m1 and a x1-m
new engine seems most probable, and the camo to hide the front and rear bumpers unique to the M line-up, not sure why the whole car is covered though

Re: New 1er spy pic

Interesting, thanks. The lower roof line for the 3-door is interesting....I believe that is actually going to be the case...
