VW group and Mercedes not started 2026 well in Germany with fewer sales than in Jan 2025

BYD is killing it . They are expanding like crazy
Apparently BYD has lost 30% sales in China in January compared to 2025 for EV & Hybrids. But worldwide they sold more cars than ever before. Geely going to give them a hard time in 2026.

The competition in China is absolutely massive .

But I don't think BYD fears competition more than European manufacturers do.

MB , for example , is dead in China. And it keeps getting worse

I was almost certain that the withdrawal of subsidies for EVs would hit overall sales, compared to these first months of 2025, I was wrong and the brand remains just as strong.

BMW confident it can extend streak of record U.S. sales

BMW is coming off a strong year in the United States. Deliveries increased by 4.7% to 388,897 units, an all-time high. 2025 marked the third consecutive year of growth, and now the company is aiming for a fourth. 2026 has gotten off to a positive start, with increased sales in January, although the manufacturer does not publish monthly breakdowns. We will have to wait until the end of the first quarter for the complete figures for January to March.

Not everything that glitters is gold; it's much more of a bubble manipulated by low, loss-making prices than anything else.

BYD’s $60 billion wipeout points to deeper turmoil for China EVs
By Bloomberg
February 06, 2026 02:59 AM EST

A relentless selloff in BYD shares is laying bare investor anxiety over the profit outlook for China’s electric-vehicle sector, as cooling domestic demand and surging raw-material costs trigger a brutal reset of expectations.

MB , for example , is dead in China. And it keeps getting worse
I wouldn't say Mercedes are over in China when in 2025 they sold 550K cars in China and in 2026 the CLA, GLB EQ models and new FL S-class will all launched there. I still believe if the tech savy Chinese buyers like the screens and AI tech in the new MB.OS equipped Mercedes models they will sell well.

The CLA was launched in 2025 in China

550k sounds good , but that's a 19% fall. And it keeps falling

MB really went all in ( IMO ) , to go after chinese market , with this asiatic design language.

Let's not forget that the Maybachs were released in red color .

Red is not exactly a western type...

For some strange reason, M-B has been oddly reminding me of some sort of bizarre embodiment of the 2008 sub-prime global financial fiasco. The once stellar brand equity, technological/innovation acumen and illustrious history the "prime grade" assets...diminishing mechanical/electronic/material/fit quality, increasing gimmickry and tacky afterthoughts and loss of focus of what actually "makes" a Mercedes-Benz the sub-prime junk. Bundled into the derivative aka "Mercedes Benz Group AG", the sub-prime junk has significantly dilluted the prime grade assets, eroded the real and perceived value the entity as a whole.

Is it the Chinese that hold the default swaps ? Or BMW ? Was Ola once employed by Lehman Brothers ?

How dare you say it does not innovate??

They have heated seatbelts !!!

For whoever the heck asked for such stupidity
