X5 New X5 E70 spy pictures (and videos) - part 3

The BMW X5 is a mid-size luxury crossover SUV produced by BMW. The X5 made its debut in 1999 as the E53 model. It was BMW's first SUV. BMW marketed the X5 officially as a "Sports Activity Vehicle" (SAV), rather than an SUV, to indicate its on-road handling capability despite its large dimensions.

The interior IMO:

- it's no Zonda, but then again, thank God it's no Porsche either.
the Cayenne has a very good look and inviting interior.:)

Wow, didn't expect to see a shot of the undisguised interior so soon. I like it! When I saw the first spy shots of the interior, I thought it would turn out to be a copy of the 5er interior, nothing more, nothing less. But judging from this picture, they have spent enough attention to details, making the interior a modern interpretation of the old X5 interior. :usa7uh:

I think it will look very classy with the right interior colors and trims. I hope the build quality will be on par with the competitors (there's a pretty large gap between the dashboard panel on the right and the air vent, and also the steering column looks as if it's made of cheap black plastic?).

The gear-lever looks very modern, I'm wondering what the function is of the two buttons on the left of the I-drive controller :t-hands:

Steering wheel will probably have the same feel as the one on the 3er, which is very good imo. The button is probably the electronic parking brakes.

^ I was not talking about the steering wheel (which looks very fine), but about the steering column (I hope this is the correct English word for it). You're probably right about the electronic handbrake...

I love it so far! Can't wait for more!!!!

I like that gear lever lol.

The twin vents seems a bit over the top...

I think I will end up liking this interior though.

E53 X5 already has twin vents, so I see nothing over the top about that

Wow just look at this interior makes me love the X5 even more. The X5 was truly a magnificent car and it still is. The new interior is 'funky' like Alex said and I LIKE IT!

I'm surprised the X5's interior has ended up this way. This is the first of the iDrive native cars to come without a center binnicle for the nav screen. I can only guess that ergonomic/space factors caused this, since the X5 has a fundamentally different dash structure than BMW's cars.

I really don't like it, but I'm sure some different colors/trims will make things look up to snuff.

How does that thing work though? I'm sure it's an automatic, but it seems closer to SMG than anything. Haha It looks like a Logitech wireless mouse when it's being charged.

Remember this?

Change the rules ...

Design of the X5: Evolutionary design for a revolutionary vehicle

The next step: The next transition for efficiency

Enter the age of the "Science fiction" car: Making use of new technologies to keep you on the road (or off)

:D

Automatic, SMG, DCT, ZSG, or iTronic / iShift?

I know what it is but I'm intereseted to hear your opinion ... :)

Looks more like a single integrated unit in the current car, whereas in the new one there is a a clear distinction. It's a minor think really, and I'm looking forward to the final product.

This car has a ver good chance of replacing our E320. :usa7uh:

Looks like SMG! But SINCE you know, why not just state it, how is anyone else suppossed to guess? Could be anything!!

Could actually be just a handle bar to hold on to for sharp turns when drifting!!!!

Or even a high-tech fore-arm muscle builder that you can squeeze while you drive!!!

Eni, stop playing with us!! :D
My guess is that it is an automatic. I don't expect BMW to test DZG on an X5 yet. I could be totally wrong.

Who knows. Enilab is full of suprises.

I think that is a very interesting interior and quite frankly it really attracts me to the car. That tranny looks so sick!!!

Guys take a look at this. I cropped it and highlighter in red two things.

1. It looks like the E-Brake has been replaced with a small lever somewhat like the one found in the A6 and A8.

2. It does look like some sort of SMG knob because it doesn't really have that much room to move such as P, R, N, D, S, etc. It seems to have some lines that indicate Reverse to the left like in the SMG for the M3 and M5.

Can you guys find an EDC button? :D

It is either on the top of the shift knob in box number 2 or it is the other button right behind the e-brake in box number 1. Enilab, was I right about the E-brake?

Totally wrong, BMWFREAK! :eusa_naug

Is it so difficult to see that this is the first electric shaver ever to be built into a car? Comes in handy for those businessmen who are practically living in their car.

Part 1:
two buttons, one for water, one for shaving gel (for those X5-drivers with a sensitive skin)

Part 2:
shaving gel applicator/wireless shaver
(configuration via I-Drive > Entertainment > Personal hygiene)

And EniLab, where can I collect my prize? :D ;)
