Hey guys, don't really hang out in here much as I am a BMW man, but it looks like I will be from now on as my uncle's selling his E60 M5 , and he has just put in an order for an S500L, pics as soon as it arrives. BTW what is the current UK waiting list?

well its officially released on thursday i think...not sure but if i had to guess i would say 3 months...then again it could be a lot more, when the old s class came out it was up to 9 months...and apparently many old w220 s classes were grey imports from europe at launch as you can just jump the waiting list LOL, the UK has a limit of 2500 a year.....ive already seen one, a couple of days ago infact! my regional dealerships have already sold like 4 or 5 and the customers got them like in january LOL, talking of grey imports i read somewhere that 33% of all UK CLS's are bought from europe....that way people get them quicker and slightly cheaper (the CLS their isnt much price difference actually - yet the waiting list is so much shorter in europe - i rea it from an interview with an MB UK spokesperson talking at the R-class launch..) hope that half helps!! i wouldnt be surprised though if the waiting list suddenly grows though, it has not been advertised that much, and the other thing is the new basic model, the S320CDI (the one that takes 50% of the sales in the UK) is actually £12,000 (about $22,000) more than the first S320CDI was when it was released in 1998....(before they stopped selling it the price had crept up to £52,000 for a basic one even LOL, so i think quite a lot of people will probably be put off, especially as by the time u get a decent spec a cheap one can end up being 70k easily LOL, and i think some buyers will be tempted to get a CLS instead...i know someone who had an S55 and swapped it for a CLS55 and a B-class...dunno if he is gonna get a new S though..., my parents nearly swapped their current S for a CLS but we think we are going to get another S soon cuz by the time you put the standard s class specification on the cls the price becomes the same as an S lol, but the G is pretty cool also, if only the interior had the command controller lol ha isnt life so confusing LOOOOL

no problem! actually we are going to get one of our cars serviced next friday so i will let my parents ask then LOL and hopefully i will be able to sit in one and take loads of pics LOL, i know about a month ago when my parents took our other car to get serviced the dealer said they could get us one without too much of a waiting list....but i suppose it depends on which dealer i guess and how many they have allocated to sell for the year...

That Carlsson S-class is pretty good. Almost makes me think twice about the Brabus. Even though the S65 is still my number 1.

A friend of mine bought a W220 S500 and I took it for a spin tonight and look what I saw parked near a night club

The first W221 I saw with an AMG package. It's just STUNNING!


This is my friend's W220's interior. I still love this car and I think it's still beautiful compared to the W221.
I'll borrow it for a longer time next time

I know this is old news for the rest of you but the S class finally came out on thursday 16th and I finally got the chance to check it out. Test drive will probably be next week but this time I had a sit in for about 10 minutes or so and had a go with COMAND. I havent used MMI so I cant compare it with that but as expected its much easier to use than the 7er I-drive and the screen, menus, graphics whatever you want to call them were so much better and just looked great. Quality was top notch, better than the competition. This one was a 320 CDI witht the AMG package and it looks out of this world. AMG package if u can afford it is a must!! What a car...just cant wait for my test drive now
