Distronic Plus, Break Assist Plus and Pre-Safe were just featured on the Science Channel's "Beyond Tomorrow" (episode 16). However, they tested them in an E-Class, not the new S-Class.

There is a very interesting article about the S-Class in the April issue of CAR. They tested a S320 CDI vs. the Land Rover Range Rover and the Bentley Continental Flying Brick. Of course this wasn't a head to head type deal, but more a luxury test of the S-Class vs what I guess they think are its more important rivals in the minds of most British consumers. They said they drove the S320, S350 and S500 (550), but decided that for England the S320 CDI makes the most sense, but they said they don't blame anyone for wanting the S500. Of course the S320 came in 1st place, followed by the Bentley and then the Range Rover. They said that the new S is the top luxury car in the world and that is "untouchable"! The Bentley was more "special" but couldn't stand up to the Benz in other areas. The Land Rover of course is a SUV so it has limited on-road capabilities but is very luxurious. In the end CAR seems to be nuts about the new S, just like were the W220 until the new Jaguar XJ8 came along in 2004.

No, I wish :D
He seen it in a parking lot when he went to get his car. The owner let him check out the car and the interior. He's the one that made fun of it when it first came out ("It looks like a Lexus" he said), but now he loves it.

If he gets a W221 (He's a BMW fan), I'd borrow it from him everyday and you bet I'd take more than just two pictures.

I was hanging out with him tonight and we passed by the MB dealer here in Manhattan. All the S550's on the floor had "Sold" signs on them :eusa_danc . There's also a MM 57S with the same sign on it too. I wanted to show him the SLR, but it was not there anymore, maybe they sold it too :usa7uh:

I think it is becoming very clear that Mercedes is really going to turn the sales situation around this year big time. I mean if they can't post significant gains for 2006 then they are in real trouble. The new S is more popular in the U.S. this time around than when the W220 was first introduced in the U.S. It is mind-boggling when I think about all the MB models that are either new or FL/new engines this year. Its ridiculous.

I forgot about the Maybach 57S, I wonder if it will bring some much needed life into those fancy Maybach "studios" in the major MB markets here in the U.S.

ohh okay yaz..but you better steal it if he gets one:D..

PS
yeah merc i will be very dissappointed if there is no gain in sales compared to last year

I'm particularly hopeful for the U.S. market. I think they can get to 250K+ units this year.

yeah US will gain..so far the nr´s are gr8 this year.. i think it will be a good one for MB..
next year to with the new C:D
