X5 New BMW E70 X5 official photos & info!

The BMW X5 is a mid-size luxury crossover SUV produced by BMW. The X5 made its debut in 1999 as the E53 model. It was BMW's first SUV. BMW marketed the X5 officially as a "Sports Activity Vehicle" (SAV), rather than an SUV, to indicate its on-road handling capability despite its large dimensions.

Quite a bit they have to say about the Volvo XC90, huh?

Earlier today I had a fight with a very nasty person about the E70 rear lights.
Some people are just pure stupid & ignorant. :t-crazy2:

So, to avoid similar debates here I'm going to explain it here too - only once! :D

Very ugly and too small rims...

Whatever. I think that white E70 there looks extremely good, minus the E53 3.0 standard rims it has here clearly.

I am driving a E53 3.0d brand new for two days right now btw, my car is having repairs :)

that looks good..but i hate the black lower parts..i hope there is a option to get it painted all over..

klier, i don't say that the car is very ugly, man, rims...RIMS!;)

Also mind that the cell phone camera skewed the perspective a bit.

IRL the car is a stunner: especially with bigger rims.
Like all new BMWs also the E70 needs bigger rims to look absolutely gorgeous.

The exterior( the shape of the headlamps in particular)still has not grown on me..we'd rather keep our current version.

First of all, is that Gene from down under, a long-standing member on the old GCF forum?

Back to the matter at hand: the new BMW X5.

Well, I'm not entirely convinced. It's certainly an evolutionary iteration of BMW's ground breaking SAV - I mean how much revolution can you actually build into the design of a large SUV? They just don't lend themselves yet to the creative license we see exercised in, let's say, saloon car design in my humble opinion. A big two-box wagon on stilts is a big two-box wagon on...

The side profile is instantly recognisable and keeps the X5 DNA wholly intact. To differentiate this as an altogether new generation it's safe to say that the X5 has undergone major reconstructive rhinoplasty. The front may be described by the agents of BMW as aggressive, which it is to a certain extent, but I feel that again, it's a little overdone and fussy. That is a trend that's not unique to the BMW badge of course, the whole crop of recent large SUV's seem to have a huge expanses of frontal area interspersed with smatterings of fussy detailing.

The Audi Q7, Merc ML and new X5 are perfect counterparts with neither exhibiting any particular attribute that differentiates them from the other.

This X5 will be a cracking success once again and has all the mass appeal and status required to cut it in this class, but I know that I'd eat maggot-infested farm manure for a new twin-turbo V8 diesel Rangie Sport. ;)

Ok I know I`m late in this thread because of working hours. I was about to post the exact same thing as martinbo has posted. He rounded his opinion up quit truthfully and without bias and I have to agree, the new X5 is simply
too overly designed in the nose area!, it`s already familier muscles have been massaged to give it a "fresh" look. Well if you ask me it doesn`t work that well. (It certainlly isn`t as fresh as the E60 5er at all) It reminds me of the X3
a lot!! give me the currant design in a heart beat.

I agree. The black makes the white one look so cheap. But the other pictures are still:icondrool

I think you don't ever want to touch your current X5 again when you've driven the new one.

Dropping the pedal to the medal today on PCH in an 07' XC70 (review on that coming tommorow) heading towards Zuma beach, in the oppisite lane of traffic.... what do I see?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? A an uncamoed E70 X5!!!! It was white and had way smaller rims than the car in the P.R. pics. As far as how the car looks in person, first off, it's massive and has gobs of presence. It honestly looks like it could dwarf the current E53 model. When I saw it I was like "Oh sh*t, it's the new X5!!!", I noticed it immedeately, there's no mistaking this car whatsoever, and to add it looks hella nice in person, with the larger "20 wheels it's going to mesmerize onlookers everywhere.:t-cheers:
