A8/S8 New Audi A8 (D4) - Official Pics & Info

Exterior looks very poor imo, in the official high res shots. The greenhouse looks silly, the side profile is A4 XXL, the front is the ugliest of any Audi period and the Bangle butt rear is nothing to write home about.
The interior the the biggest plus of this car, even though I hate the cheap pop up screen with a passion already.

An extreme let down. The D3 succes could not be replicated, as expected. D3 was the pinnacle of the current, stale, Audi sedan design. Every design since that one is worse. 2003 was the highlight of Audi design. All this PR talk would have been better for the D3 introduction 6 years ago.

The more I see it, the it looks like an oversized A4.

So, Audi is still the Audi. No fear BMW will turn into such safe & unified designs.

And from what I see (from spy pics) the A7 will have very similar front, shoulder line, and the angular rear lines.

Okay...I dont even wanna wait for any official press pics with a black one on 20's.... I can say this directly now:

This is officially the biggest letdown of any newely presented model by Audi, since the B6 A4... So that's 8 years.... I'm really really sad...

The micro detailing of the interior looks phenomenal, it owns the 7er in that respect, but the proper design and styling is way behind, it lacks fluidity and coherence, the pop up screen is something of the past and i am not too found of the way they used wood, and there's something in the dash that reminds me of modern renaults (laguna).

Don't like the new interior either, you see micro detailing as a plus and I see it as just too busy, and agree it lacks fluidity.

Now c'mon. That's just unsightly. A big ol' corner smack dab in the middle of your elegent-ass A8. I'm sure it makes for a bigger kofferraum and all that, but it's a serious blah in what demands to be a supremely serene and effortless shoulderline.

I said in the official 5er thread that people shouldn't be making PS jobs of a newly released car, but I couldn't resist (sorry Mii )

Also, the window line reminds me of the D2, and that far from a good thing. The greenhouse of the D3 was ten times better.

To be fair, I do like the graphics in the headlights. Sadly, it is only the graphics that make this car stand out.

Dear Audi,

Your Audi A8 world premiere was fantastic, and I am glad we got to see Lucy Liu as its been a while since she has been in anything new. Frankly speaking that was the highlight of the evening.

For all your talk of art, design and progress you provided us with the pinnacle of mediocre artistic design. The new A8 is uninspiring and devoid of aspiration, although I must say the interior is sublime and I must give credit where credit is due.

The exterior on the other hand is a nice update, one that we all saw when your marketing department leaked pictures over a year ago. If the purpose of that leak was to get some feedback into the direction you were taking.....you must have not been listening, because you are way off the mark. (We were all praying it was a bad photoshop.)

We as car fans in general feel greatly let down, just when Audi was becoming defensible as a luxury brand you bring us crashing down to the ground. You gave us hope with the original TT, you gave yourself credibility with the A5/S5 and you went stratospheric with the R8.

Now you have crashed and burned with the new A8. This is not the progress you speak of ....this is stalling creative innovation. I highly recommend you should now look at youth for your next batch of designs, as obviously the 58 year old who designed this has clearly run out of ideas. Now the supposed genius behind the design of the new A8 may yet still grow on us, but I highly doubt it.
