euhm, you didn't answer the question, what is BMW, you brought it up, not me, doing that's the same? I can't think of it.

And yes, we have to accept this model, we have to accept that it's coming, but that doesn't mean the market will. It's just a feeling I have, these are all very very similar cars and it looks like some of you are trying really hard to point fingers or show "research" just to justify it. Sadly though, those arguments don't sell cars.

I meant BMW with the new 1er GT wich is also a coupeish sedan acording to reports, or the new Gran Copue, wich is the BMW´s A7, and before BMW Mercedes introduced the CLS, and that´s it, is the new trend, 30 models line up.

Again I´m with you, I can´t stand how the market will accept it, but I remember a few years back Audi said they wanted to be the numer 1 luxury world manufacturer, and they were planning to expand the line up. So, it seems expanding the line up is good for sales.

Yeah sure, expansion did great things for audi, no denying that. It was also needed, for sure, they were like making 3 cars. But I'm not sure it's fair to compare this type of expansion with other brands. Like BMW, yes, they will probably make the GC, but that will be their only four door coupé, there isn't anything like the A5 hatchback in their segment. Also, I'll believe the 1GT when it's there, I'm not sure we're ( thankfully) getting that. Mercedes has the CLS, but that is truly something different from the other cars. For instance, why did audi give this car the same window treatment as the A5 sportback. If you're truly going to market it as a four door coupé and don't have that much different styling cues going around in the company, let's face it they're not the most versatile company, why not try to make something like the window line on the A5 coupé. That way you emphasize the coupé experience, like MB did.

And this is not an anti-audi thing, I have stated from the beginning that I have doubts the 5GT and the 5 touring will peacefully coexist and I'm still not sure of it. But the 5GT has it's own identity. It's clearly different from the others. This, when put in line with the A5 sportback, A6 and A8, truly is IMO, asking for trouble.

Well, I think here you are forgetting who Audi really is. Do you see much difference between the A8 and the A4?. Why expect a big difference between A7 and A5 SB?. Sad but true. Notice the front of the leaked pics. The SB Concept really showed a nice front end, and they have changed to to look like the rest of the line up.

This is another example of what Audi is for me. They manufactur good looking cars? Yep, for sure, but all the models on their line up (except the A3 wich is ancient) feature the very same side profile lines, not similar, the very same ones. This new A7 should have been the exception, but as you´ve said it won´t.

s7 with v8 engine:)

This picture tells a million stories! first of all you can see audi has retained most of the interior from the concept! has the pop out screen, the extended ventilation chamber!, the side panels wrapping around the whole center console (like the jaguar xj)! there is still plenty of hope for this car!

Yeah, that interior looks quite a bit better than the messy A8.

Will be interesting to see this car go head to head with the new CLS.

^^
This.

If I was to order an A7, I would take that chop to the local dealer and request my cabin to look as close to it as possible. That's some much needed icing you gave it. Thumbs up!

:t-cheers:

Still think it´s boring? I really like how it looks.

Andy's conception is sublime but remain's a fantasy until the real interior can be blinged out in the same way. My opinion still persist, the overall vision of the dash is rather personality-less. A brick decked out with Swarovski crystals is still a brick.

They did the contrary of what BMW did with the production 5er GT, they made the transition between the central console and the central tunnel almost continous. In both cases, it looked much better in the concept phase, it gave the interior a lot of cachet and caracter.

Looks like Audi are going to do what they did when they launched the A5 and S5 (4.2 engine) at the same time. Then introduced the 3.0 Supercharged engine for the S5 Cabriolet. RS5 of course got improved 4.2 V8 that will will likely go into the facelifetd R8 V8 when due.

So from this rationale possibly S7 with 5.2 V10 later to be downsized when engine is ready with more fuel efficient lower horse power but higer torque levels 4.0 Supercharged engine introduced on the S7 Cabriolet first. An improved 5.2 V10 using same principle from 4.2 V8 improvements for the RS5 that will go into the R8 V10 when facelift is due.

The A7 is pretty much the next generation A6 in coupe form and will preview the engines. From an efficiency point of view, the days of the 5.2L are counted. With Mercedes having recently taken the wraps of their 453hp 4.7l V8TT, I'm counting on the S7 feature forced induction too.

Bumping up the volume of the supercharged V6 to 4.0L and perhaps adding two more cylinders should be enough to remain competitive.

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
