i think it’s great that Mercedes gave the GLC/ C EQ most of the S-class goodies, Since not so many people buy expensive EVs.However demand and appetite for EVs above six figures are more challenging.

Time will tell.Reviews for the CLA and EQB are glowing. Mercedes are nailing it with these EVs. Doing the same with the S would be fab.

EQB? Did you mean the new GLB?Reviews for the CLA and EQB are glowing. Mercedes are nailing it with these EVs. Doing the same with the S would be fab.

It's a total fog of uncertainty, at this point, many manufacturers must be thinking that it will only be worthwhile from 2035 onwards because they are obligated to do it, but until then it's just throwing money away. However demand and appetite for EVs above six figures are more challenging.
With EVs differentiation is difficult. It's easy to tell a 4 cylinder apart from a V8. But electric motors in an CLA EV won't be night and day different from electric motors in an EQS.It's a total fog of uncertainty, at this point, many manufacturers must be thinking that it will only be worthwhile from 2035 onwards because they are obligated to do it, but until then it's just throwing money away.
I dont see this war ending anytime soon and the prices of oil will be shooting up as well as gas and fertilizers. With the prices of diesel blowing up, I think alot of countries will be increasing their investments in infrastructure and changing their public transport fleet of diesel buses to electric buses. Its happening in South Africa already where our government recently announced a deal with a Uganda EV Bus company to deliver 820 Electric buses to replace the existing bus fleet.Time will tell.
I think there is a growing appetite now, as the world grows more disillusioned with the instability surrounding petrochemicals.
But we shall see.

Oh I thought the GLC was a replacement for the EQC. Isn’t EQE one segment above? It would definitely make sense for them to reappear, but I suppose in the same format as the new E-Class EQ. based on what we've seen so far regarding the "new strategy," they should come as the GLE EQ and GLS EQ, with similar body styles, when the successors to the current models are launched in a few years.
It's worth remembering that the EQE SUV will cease production this year in favor of its temporary replacement, the GLC EQ, just as the sedan is rumored to be doing.

It's not like Mercedes can sand bag the CLA EV because the Chinese will put the very best drivetrain and tech in $40-60k car.
Autonomous driving would be a fab differentiator but it's am absolute money pit. Too expensive to R&D, prone to under delivering in the real world and doesn't get regulator approval in all markets.
Mercedes could differentiate through design! Lots of room for improvement on the EQS.One can argue that the era of the EV introduces a "democratization" of the automotive landscape. This leads to those harboring "elitist" mindsets entrenched in devoted brand loyalties, engine displacements and the like feeling uncomfortable. The air of status, the sensation of arrival becomes more rationally "product oriented" rather than brand oriented. Xiaomi and Huawei, BYD and Geely becoming increasingly significant elements of the equation...who'da thought not so long ago ? And this not only applies to Chinese firms. German companies such as Infineon, Helsing, Quantum Systems and Siemens could join the party as automobile manufacturers in the not too distant future. Although more emphasis is currently being placed on a sort of quasi-wartime footage.

Yes, it's the EQC's replacement, but considering the EQE's marginal sales and taking into account the far superior technological qualities and even the now respectable size of the GLC EQ, Mercedes wisely opted not to waste resources and optimize its factory space by discontinuing the EQE.Oh I thought the GLC was a replacement for the EQC. Isn’t EQE one segment above?
One could very strongly argue that the EQE and EQS were positioned a segment higher than they really deserved to be.Oh I thought the GLC was a replacement for the EQC. Isn’t EQE one segment above?
I think in order for them to win the upper EV segment they need to change the next EQS/ S-class EQ to the Vision Iconic design.Mercedes could differentiate through design! Lots of room for improvement on the EQS.

The GLC EQ dimensions are very close to those of the EQE SUV and it offers better tech and about the same amount of space and a bigger 570 L boot plus more value for money with the GLC400 been considerably cheaper and it looks so much better. It's foggy.
EQE SUV and GLC EV are quite close to eachother.
Same as CLA EV and C class.
