Oh, and the same damn bumper on every damn car.

Looks horrible - off centered Benz star, the shiny chrome outlines on shiny black plastic, its like the chinese cars from 15 years ago.GLS face leaked
Why cant the Germans do it?
In China they treat cars like any consumer device, whenever they come up with something new, they update the production, thats why they have facelifts every 2-3 years. Why cant the Germans do it?
And MBs future for the next 10 years is not set. Despite what that idiot Wagener says.
Facelifts that were set many years ago. Just look at the current ICE lineup coming out, both the classic and AMG designs resemble the original EQ cars, the only exception being the starts in the headlights. Can't do what? They've been doing facelifts every three years for literal decades.

I think it's more of the same, only with a very beautiful grille that doesn't quite fit in because it's much more modern than the rest of the vehicle.GLC EQ a step in the right direction.
Disagree on the GLC - while the exterior shows similar design cues to the older generations, the sligh changes in the headlights, bumper, and the totally new grill create a better overall picture, more balanced, coherent. The rear is debatable, but at least original - will hold my judgement on that till I see it irl.I think it's more of the same, only with a very beautiful grille that doesn't quite fit in because it's much more modern than the rest of the vehicle.
Regarding renovations, the landscape has changed; nowadays they are much more extensive than just 5 or 6 years ago. Today, due to changing technology and, why not, the Chinese competition that has given them a run for their money, they are thoroughly renovating even the interiors, something that had never been done before.
It’s quite the benchmark actuallyThe GLC's interior design is exemplary for its competitors. I can't comment on the quality![]()
I agree that you have to see it on the streets to form a definitive opinion, but as I said, from what has been published so far, I see it more as something that is on its way out than something that is new to today's buyers.Disagree on the GLC - while the exterior shows similar design cues to the older generations, the sligh changes in the headlights, bumper, and the totally new grill create a better overall picture, more balanced, coherent. I think it boils down to how you feel sitting in front of such a large, continuous screen, seemingly overwhelming.BUT! - the interior is beautiful, while I despise large screens, this is the largest and best integrated one among all the germans. I dont know what the design team smoked when they designed this interioe, but it should be freely available to everyone at the company.
The Chinese are way quicker in adapting
What surprises me is how they managed to make that work in their favor instead of against them, as it should have.None of them have any real brand value or loyalty to preserve yet
GLC by the name , GLE by the price...The GLC's interior design is exemplary for its competitors. I can't comment on the quality![]()
I think part of the thing with Chinese marques in this regard, is that at the moment they can afford to throw any sh*t at the wall, and just see what sticks. None of them have any real brand value or loyalty to preserve yet, they can move quickly without alienating a core customer base that has bought into existing brand expectations, they don't have to worry about loosing their identity, because in the eyes of most consumers they don't really have any identity. As the successful Chinese brands grow I think you'll see them begin to slow down a bit as they will have to be, and can afford to be, more considered in their approach.
Just my two cents.
I agree with you.But it's sad to see the Germans are seemingly unable to quickly deviate from a chosen path when they full well know the chosen path has proven to be the wrong one. It's simply taking too long for them to make a U turn and find the right path. The EQ design language is a globally disliked theme, and yet their whole lineup is turning into it. Something simply doesn't add up.
