I agree with you.

It’s all about China.
They even used a Chinese woman for the press release pictures.

Chinese want Panorama roofs you can’t open, Chinese want a fridge with disinfection, Chinese want 1.5L engines, Chinese want Karaoke on the car, Chinese want a lot of leg room,Chinese despise convertibles Chinese are getting everything they want.

The US or European market doesn’t matter anymore, we have to like and buy what the Chinese want.

If I want to buy a car, which has been developed for the European taste, I need to buy a Dacia. For the US Taste there’s the RAM 1500 or the Mustang or the Escalade, to name only a few.
And see this is where really adept management comes in strikes the right balance for different markets. A roof that opened over the rear passengers would be fire. We know Mercedes has the engineering know how to do it. It comes down to cost. Easier to offer more of the same things in all markets a than extreme tailoring in a few markets but I would say it’s worth it when you’re talking about China, USA and Europe. Some unique features in each market certainly won’t hurt.

My father's E34 had that 35 years ago. It's not like it's a thing which is hard to overcome engineering wise, it's just that they simply can't be bothered anymore these days.

They rather sprinkle the car with LEDs
