Mercedes CLA 350 4matic: 1,000 km in 9 hours

Jörn Nyland is the electric YouTuber from Norway. He now has 346,000 followers. He tested the new CLA 350 4matic over 1,000 km.

The test of the Mercedes CLA 350 4matic EQ took place at night. Outside temperatures ranged from 12 to 18 degrees Celsius. The route went from just north of Oslo to Sweden and back. On the Swedish highway, there were sections with speeds of 130 km/h (81 mph), and mostly 120 km/h (75 mph).

The CLA 350 4matic averaged 118 km/h (73 mph) over the 1,000 km (620 mph). Including charging stops, the average speed was 111 km/h (69 mph). Fuel consumption was 20.2 kWh per 100 km (62 mph).

Despite the all-wheel drive and the rain, the CLA 350 4matic performed better than the Tesla Model 3 LR RWD Highland (around 10 minutes faster).

The total journey time was only 9 hours. The CLA had to contend with adverse conditions, as it rained on 40% of the route (which increased rolling resistance and fuel consumption).

The EQE SUV wasn’t too bad actually imo. It was the best looking of the EQ vehicles imo, admittedly a low bar but still. I would love to be a fly on the wall in the deepest halls of Mercedes right now. You’re pretty much cancelling 4 vehicles in the USA. Youch. Never seen anything like this from any other car maker. The crazy part is that EQ owners I’ve talked to love their cars.

EQE SUV was the worst looking EQ vehicle. It looks horrible. I still can’t believe how they approved that cars design.

IMHO, the EQE and EQS sedans are the "mostly awkwardly styled" electric M-B vehicles. Personally, I do not find the EQE SUV ugly per se. Frankly and solely in terms of exterior design, I remain undecided as to whether the new MB.EA GLC is a significant improvement. For me, its recent presentation was anticlimactic. The BMW NKL ix3, however, really "WOWS !" me.

The GLC EV looks 10 times better than the EQE and EQS SUV. The ICE-like proportions and new graphics really helped the design. But it still looks like a regular Mercedes SUV with a big grille and different taillights. That’s probably why it didn’t have the wow factor like the iX3. Though I must say, I got used to its design pretty quickly.

The W223 being in it's 6th model year unchanged and the most expensive in its set and still manages to be the king speaks volumes about its market position and desirability.

I am not surprised.

I had one as a loaner. EQE500 SUV.

It was really a good car.

Felt like a Mercedes Benz should, very comfy and quiet, and the 10° RWS was absolutely bonkers.
For some weird reason even though I dislike the exterior and interior I kind of want a EQE just for that crazy 10 degree rear steer. They are already so cheap, maybe in a few years when they are in the teens.

The figures presented on that website are always wrong, arbitrary and unreliable, they do not correspond to the official figures presented by the manufacturers.
