Hot! Mercedes-Benz, What's Next?

Put the bonnet star on there and we're golden.

I think some of the commentary around this news implies that the LEDs are optional. I think it'll still look good without the LEDs.

Agreed. Doesn’t need all of that extra stuff to look good.
I’m also a little confused about the new EQ models. Are they going to have different facias depending on the model? The CLA, upcoming GLB and the AMG GT seem to have a lightbar with lower positioned grille, while the GLC / C electric has this new big tall grille with regular headlights.
I assume the “lower end” models will have what the CLA has, and the core models will adapt this new front facia look.

I think perhaps there was a change in direction which was too late for the CLA (and maybe the GT 4-door EV?) given supply chain.

Meanwhile the C class and GLC EVs had a very notable front-end change, as it was further from completion.
I think the intent will be this new grille/facia design, but it was too late to bring that to the CLA which was production-ready. Maybe with its facelift in 2-4 years time...?

The comments are very interesting, 4.7L and 5.5L V8s are on the way

I am now curious If both engines will be AMG engines. The 5.5L will be a torque monster, I expect 900Nm (663lbft) at under 1800rpm.
There’s no comparison to the M177.

I don't know how much I believe that tbh.
The commenter seems to suggest it won't be till 2035 anyway.

I know the M177 doesn't have as much torque below 1800rpm, but as far as modern low-displacement V8s go, its very very strong in the torque department.
I'm almost certain the new V8 will be a turbo 4L just because that's the maximum for a forced induction GT3 engine. I'm sure they can tweak the characteristics of the motor to have more torque lower down.

We'll see I guess. Maybe there'll be an AMG 5L variant of the new V8 with a bigger bore or stroke, I can't imagine them having an additional two different displacements in today's day and age. As far as I'm aware now, all V8s and V12s are made exclusively by AMG. Even the S580 is moving from the M176 to the M177.

Frankly, I'd rather AMG make a hand-built inline-6 now that the M139 seems to be getting sunset.

If the number of ICE cars is going to be reduced, I'd like there to be a nice smooth AMG I6 and V8. There's no chance for a V12 these days, but if there is a market desire, modular designs means they could mate two I6s to a common crank (this is obviously easier said than done).

I guess the Flatplane 4L will be used for the racing.

The bigger engines won’t be used for racing, therefore the size won’t matter.

A AMG I6 might be in the pipeline as well.

Yes. Racing and sports cars that people want a more linear power delivery from. Would love them to make an NA version of this motor with like a 10k redline like the Temerario (I guess they could do that with a turbo too for even more insane power figures, but an NA would sound amazing).

Perhaps. Maybe I could see a 4.7L AMG motor to compete with BMW on the street-first AMGs. Not sure they'd bother making yet another displacement.

I hope so. The M256 is a lovely motor, but it seems like it's design doesn't lend itself to be super powerful. I think it was designed to be compact and smooth first and foremost and it isn't an AMG motor.
Would love to see an AMG 3L I6 with characteristic AMG low-down torque.

Oh yes, this is car I would order immediately . 10k and N/A especially as a roadster

I guess we’ll see both and it won’t take as long, I guess we’ll see it in the next few years.

I agree.
The M256 lacks the big low end torque, few AMGs were really rev happy.

The camo really needs to be completely removed:

Images like this are stifling my high expectations. It appears "chubby"...and quite ordinary here.
Don't see anything especially wrong with this. Looks like the ICE GLC in shape, minus the kink in the rear 3/4 window panel.

It's a smart, compact executive crossover.

Edit: Those wheels are awesome. Bit of a different look to the usual rims, but still look pretty cool.

The general shape is quite ordinary. I think the graphics and small design details will make this thing exciting. Other than that it’s just a classic Mercedes SUV, nothing exciting there.

Ultimately, I think it's safe by design. This is their best seller. It needs to pass the test of being simple and elegant so that it fits the most possible lifestyles.

Not the segment you want to be being overly bold in. You don't buy an X3, GLC or Q5 to make a statement.

True.

The next "statement" cars will be the AMG.EA vehicles and, to a somewhat lesser extent, the MB.EA electric E-Class sedan, I suppose.

In this era of growing boxy SUVs does anyone feel that Mercedes should also bring more boxier looking SUVs? Ofcorse the big daddy G-class is the ultimate of all the boxy big wheelers, but none of the others aren’t any!

I wish Mercedes must make next gen GLS boxier, so that it looks chunkier like those big a** luxury barges.

I feel there should be a SUV like Ener G Force concept in Merc stable or atleast something inspired from this masterpiece
