Mercedes design is completely lost.
What works is 15 years old and what's new is hideous and Chinese looking.

the fake grille of the concept is the only silly design element IMO.

It's the only thing that makes it recognizable as a Benz. For the rest it could be a Nio or an Audi or whatever
So with the lack of any identity whatsoever, you gotta put on the grille to let people know.

Do we think the Germans will manage to surpass other manufacturers in terms of EV drivetrain tech, or is the technology far too homogenised for clear superiority amongst any of the manufacturers?

If the EQXX was on actual sale today it would be the same as introducing the W223 during the W220 days.
Clear superiority is very much possible from my point of view.

Those headlights LMAO!!!!! Don't tell me that they are real.

I believe, if that’s the final shape, it would be in order to find space for the three pointed star LEDs.

My Gosh you could be onto something. They likely think the Chinese will love that. Meanwhile however, the Chinese more and more buy their own f#cked up fake brand shit cars. Per government mandate of course, because they artificially want to keep their crumbling economy going with their EV ventures. Soon they are going to flood the world with below market priced EV cars, just to keep production going.

Yet Mercedes, BMW and Germany as a whole can't get enough of the Chinese. Extremely troublesome.

No kidding, they probably think with the EV transition, the brand will lose its identity, and the best solution is to put those hideous lights and fake grilles on the front end.

This will surely make people talk about MB @leylandi

The headlights are indeed very concerning. Big departure from what MB is currently doing with headlights.

This doesnt look like a Mercedes at all. But its early days and there is alot of camo front and back so lets see next year when the camo comes off a little

Don't prejudge yet, the most beautiful Mercedes in modern history have stadium-sized lights, (in line with the grill!), it's all in the implementation of the elements where it can go from fantastic to deplorable
