Hot! Mercedes-Benz, What's Next?

Certainly not change the exterior design for the worse. This is no classic MB. It has no classic MB design cues at all. Why put a star on the hood? Is that cheap trick going to fool anyone remotely clever?
I don’t think this will make it worse. I don’t see how that is possible. At this point anything would be an improvement imo.

As mentioned above, the actual facelift model is coming with an 800v architecture and new motors. The small update its getting this year just consists of the new grille and star.
Will the EQE get a FL too? I hope they would have a new motor with 400 mile range.

I'm sure it will, but not before the EQS.
They sure need improved battery tech and software in order to enhance the driving range. You don't need a bigger battery (that would make the car longer and heavier due to the size of the battery) to improve the range.

The good news with this change of direction is that we may be those V8s back in certain vehicles. Fingers crossed.

The schedule for the launch of the MMA platform:
It will take 24-30 months from the beginning of 2025 until all MMA models are introduced onto the market. This means that the last derivatives will come onto the market in autumn 2027. It starts in around 12 months with the electric CLA in February / March 2025. Ola Källenius has put a lot of pressure on the engineers, he says. In other words, the debut could also be delayed a little until spring 2025.

While the electric CLA (C174) is scheduled to reach customers in spring 2025, combustion engine fans will have to wait another 9-12 months for the 4-cylinder mild hybrid CLA on the MMA platform. This means that the combustion engine CLA with the series code C178 will reach customers in early 2026, as the new, ultra-modern 4-cylinder mild-hybrid engine M252 is currently still in development. Therefore, the MFA2 models will continue to run in parallel for quite a while.

Is that the Chinese engine that Geely is developing?
The MMA combustion engines receive the M252 4-cylinder engine developed by Mercedes, which is only offered as a 48 volt mild hybrid. This engine is also provided to Volvo and Geely, but was developed by Mercedes.

The bottleneck of the 48-volt high-tech battery in 2023 will cost Mercedes approximately 100,000 units of the Mercedes GLC and the new E-Class. Delivery times for the two models quickly increased to 12 months (except for plug-in hybrid models with 400-volt batteries).

Now Ola Källenius has announced that the supplier has gotten the issues under better control and additional capacity will be available soon.

However, since the first quarter of 2024 is still in bottleneck, sales figures will remain below the same quarter of the previous year.

From the second quarter of 2024, the bottleneck will be completely resolved, which means that delivery times can be expected to decrease.

While the electric CLA (C174) is scheduled to reach customers in spring 2025, combustion engine fans will have to wait another 9-12 months for the 4-cylinder mild hybrid CLA on the MMA platform.

Wait, so the new MMA platform is for both BEVs and ICEVs?

yes, only M252 gasoline engine

I don't know how that "only" qualifier makes it any better. It is still going to be a compromise.

So, so much for "wait for 2025 for Merc's new EV platform to be competitive" line.

But I guess, on the bright side, you will have to now stop trolling BMW forums for it's crappy EVs.

I am just glad they're doing something at least, and recognize some design went wrong...
BMW is once again being stubborn with the 4er grille and iX grille. If BMW had MB's mojo, they would have changed both already.

Well,Well,Well Mercedes are reversing their EV Commitments. A good thing in my opinion as it proves consumers are not buying the scare stories being put out by unelected bureaucrats and politicians.
The ones that practice and get a free ride from the media on their communist and Marxist views that they should be nowhere near any form of power are finally being questioned by consumers.
These people are not for Electric Cars and never have. They want to ban household appliances as well as automotive industry. But it’s not just the automotive industry they despise. The Aeronautical industry is next for scrutiny and demands to change.
They say the quiet part out loud. You are the problem.
Prolonging iCE allows consumer choice but also further development and engineering progress manufacturers are known for. Consumers are still not fully convinced about Electric. Infrastructure is still an issue as is range. This reversal proves that even Mercedes don’t believe in it.

Why would they change it when the 4er is selling?
