I hope they stop sales in Russia!
No more production in Russia

" Mercedes-Benz will stop exporting cars and vans to Russia and local production in Russia until further notice " - the Stuttgart-based company announced in a brief statement. No further details were given. But Daimler Truck has already announced its withdrawal from the Russian market and has stopped its cooperation with Kamaz for the time being. This follows the example of the competition.

I think Mercedes will be acquired by Geely in a not-too-distant future.

You act as if they're not posting very high profits lately. I didn't bother watching the video, but is the premise that Mercedes isn't telling the truth that their demand isn't outstripping supply in Australia?

Australia aside, it's going to be interesting watching all of the journo outlets note Mercedes' overall sales decline in the coming years as they cut overall volume on purpose (as per Ola).

I act? Dude... I'm not Gary Oldman. I'm just a middle class schmuck from the Southern Hemisphere.

Anyway, if Merc is doin' so well as you say then you've got no reason to freak out. Relax.

I think Mercedes will be acquired by Geely in a not-too-distant future.
Geely has just earned 2,300 million (owns 10% of the 23,000 million in profits 2021 of the Germans) since it bought in Daimler and all its lines, otherwise it would be 1,300 million profits if it is 10% only of the car division), Mercedes in 2021 made a fortune that can buy Geely rather
overall sales decline in the coming years as they cut overall volume on purpose (as per Ola).
That is a corporate story opening the umbrella to justify a substantial drop in sales that must already be projected due to the many bad decisions they are making.

Although obviously making so much money by targeting the high-end margins against volume by selling less, is not so unreasonable, it can also be a boomerang ...and NO ONE in the industry, I repeat NO ONE ever wants to give up the crown of N°1 in sales, than the shareholders and the rest eat Ola's bullshit is another topic

Ola's "interesting" strategy aside, if you're leading a company and all you focus on is sales as a luxury brand I'd say that you're being extremely myopic. I'm neutral on Ola's strategy personally, but I do find people criticizing the lower-volume, high margin focused approach to be funny. All during previous decade there were so many detractors of Mercedes' expansion into lower price segments (CLA/GLA especially) saying the brand shouldn't have ever sold anything under the C-class. You can't be a sales leader and the high margin leader at the same time. We'll see if the focus on high margins actually keeps everyone's wallets fat in the coming years...you know how it is, company strategy can change very quickly if Ola eventually gets fired over this.

I really hope I recognize who Mercedes is by 2025-26.

Yes this happens when Mercedes Benz Australia has three price increase during 2021, and then increase the price further by 15 to 20% in one hit when they switch to fix price purchasing with zero negotiations.

It is ridiculous when the GLB 250 cost the same now as the GLC 300 just over 12 months ago? In fact the GLB 250 cost the same as the BMW X3 30i.

MB.OS starts in 2024 on MMA basis

Mercedes' own operating system will start in the MMA family from 2024
Around 1,500 developers are currently busy completing Mercedes' own MB.OS operating system.
From 2024 it will be available in the new Mercedes-Benz entry models of the MMA family. The MMA prototypes have recently been set up. The software is developed in parallel.
A further 1,500 software developers will soon come on board, since in 2024 only one model will be launched and then a total of four more models will appear on this platform in a short time window.

In 2024, the Mercedes compact car family (MFA2) will be successively replaced by the MMA Platzform. While models such as the A-Class sedan, the B-Class and the CLA Shooting Brake should not be given a successor, Ola Källenius reports that at MMA one can no longer speak of a compact car family - rather of Mercedes entry models. He emphasizes that all models have a length of 4.50m + x cm. This means that the new A-Class will be around 10 cm longer. In addition, new body shapes such as an SUV sedan (SUL) are also available. According to the rumours, they are limited to 48 volt mild hybrid models and purely electric variants. There will probably no longer be a 250e plug-in hybrid successor.
It has now been announced that the model, which will be launched in 2024, will not be an SUV. It could be the SUL (sports utility sedan) body style, which is new for Mercedes. It has not yet been decided whether this SUL will then have an A class in its name.

From 2024 also the drive pilot in the MMA family
The new MMA platform will also be prepared for Level 3 automated driving. Mercedes is preparing to equip the Mercedes-Benz entry models with the Level 3 system as well. Mercedes will deliver the first S-Class in Germany in the weeks. The next version of the Level 3 system from Mercedes will be available in autumn 2023 and it should then also be available for MMA. Speeds of 100 to 120 km/h should then be possible.

The MMA platform offers many technical delicacies for long electric ranges and high efficiency
  • the 800 volt system ensures short charging times
  • high efficiency is ensured by SiC power electronics (less heat loss - lower power consumption)
  • PSM E machines for lower power consumption
  • 2-speed gearbox on the rear axle for lower power consumption at higher speeds
  • including LFP batteries with a very low cobalt content

The plug-in hybrid models like 250e will no longer be offered on the MMA platform. Even the diesel is probably about to end at MMA.

The only motor is the M252 coupled with a 48 volt electric motor. This gives you the choice between purely electric or mild hybrid using 48 volts.

Even a couple years ago, I found cars like the GLB/Evoque/X1 to not be amazing value unless you choose base spec and engine. Add a decent engine, AWD and a few nice to haves and you are close to a class above in price.
