Hot! Mercedes-Benz, What's Next?

Latest news, trending discussions, reviews, and major updates
Well it's an AMG-specific high end model so it doesn't have to fit in on the nomenclature. I'm pretty sure eventually MB will include the AMG GT cars on the nomenclature though.

BTW, I was casually asking a complex question. What were they going to name the AMG GT four door, how would it relate to the current nomenclature and where does it fit (above/below the S Class).
Since there's the AMG GT, the four door AMG GT, plus the electric models on the way, an updated nomenclature will probably drop within a year or two or three.

If my information is correct, they will use the new nomenclature for the current ragnge as always, and they will use two new nomenclatures for AMG models and electric models, not as "C electric" as similars..

This render looks nice, will it going to happen? GLB?

I actually like the shrunken S Coupe look lol. I see MB's global sales are up for April - http://media.daimler.com/dcmedia/0-...0-0-1-0-0-0-1-0-0-0-0-0.html?TS=1462558239530.

The number of new cars to be introduced in the U.S. this year is staggering.

I don't see how the sales people keep up. We have a small break now before the next wave/round of introductions/reveals are made - AMG GT R, GT Roadster, GLC63, GLC43 Coupe, GLC63 Coupe. Are we seeing the E Coupe at Paris in Sept?

Not sure if the outputs are real but they looks really interesting. The GT with 600 PS would be amazing, same for the S65 AMG.

The Black Series treatment completely transformed the SLS back in the day.

S 65 Black Series? That sounds mildly outlandish. I would love the power and handling "improvements" but the body kit? Slight widening of the body great, but spoilers? Will be interesting to see if this pans out.

Mercedes-Benz considering eco-focused brand to rival BMW i

Launching a separate division or sub-brand to put emphasis on green vehicles has worked out very nice for its arch-rival BMW, so Merceded is looking into adopting a similar strategy.

The announcement was made by the person in charge of the manufacturer's Sales and Marketing department, Ola Kallenius, who recently spoken with Autocar on the subject, stating that the automaker will continue to expand its range of zero-emission and PHEV models, which will include 10 plug-in hybrids by the end of next year.

“We could choose for the purpose-made electric vehicles to create some sort of sub-brand but, right now, Mercedes is focused on investing tremendous resources into the path towards zero emissions. It’s something that will affect the whole portfolio", Kallenius said.

He didn't mention it, of course, but it goes without saying that if Mercedes goes down that road, it will have BMW's "i" series firmly in its sights.

The brand's chief also talked about the near future, which will see the introduction of three new members over the next few months, one from Mercedes-Benz and two from Smart, joined by a hydrogen-powered GLC, in 2017.

"By the end of this year, we will have three electric cars, with the B-Classand two Smarts. And at the end of next year, we will launch a next-generation fuel cell vehicle, which is a zero-emissions vehicle based on the GLC platform."

Of course Mercedes is going to do a different brand with different cars that are mainly all electric. I want them to go out and make them look futuristic and different from regular MB cars, inside and out. That would be a hit.

MB could revive "BlueZERO" for example. With all the recent name changes, electric drive to "e", fuelcell to "f" etc etc, it might be better to wait a while, though? :)
