Hot! Mercedes-Benz, What's Next?

Latest news, trending discussions, reviews, and major updates
The new E Coupe won't be on sale in the U.S. this year and when it is introduced I seriously doubt it will carry a V6. The new I6s will be online by then.

"The technology will launch on a V6 engine when Mercedes refreshes a vehicle with that engine before the end of the year"

The only vehicle to get a refreshes this year will be the E-Class coupe and since the S-class facelift is for mid-2017 (first one to use the I6) I highly doubt they will launch it with 4 cylinder only.

It isn't going to be an E-Class Coupe. The E Coupe isn't even scheculed to be shown this year from everything I've seen. That is early next year also. This refresh is for an existing vehicle not a totally new one.

Stratified Injection... back in the day?

What's new is that it can be offered in the USA, since the sulfur in the gas is reduced to 10 ppm starting in early 2017. MB's new wonder wagon may go first? :)

"Behold the world’s new wonder wagon. With a potent six-cylinder Biturbo engine, an elegant, extended roofline and more versatility than ever before—including third-row seats—the all-new 2017 E-Class Wagon truly embodies The Best or Nothing. Look for it at dealers in early 2017."

So what the early FSI engines (back when FSI stood for Fuel Stratified Injection) had back in the day?
This tech is not new, the earlier M276 3.5ltr V6 NA debuted this type of diect stratified injection system in 2009/2010 in the FL S350 W221. When this engine was replaced by the 3.0ltr turbo V6, this turbo V6 was actually based on older non direct injection M272 3.0ltr V6 in the E300/S300, but with added turbos. Now for certain markets Mercedes have decided to introduce a turbo version of that older M276 3.5ltr V6 with this Stratified Direct Injection to replace the older design 3.0ltr V6 turbo as it is lighter on fuel.

I guess next we will be seeing the E63 and the electric SUV concept, both at Paris? Then in Detroit the next E-Class Coupe and the GLC63 twins (GLC and GLC Coupe)? Next March the S-Class facelift!!

Normally I take satisfaction surveys with a grain of salt, but I checked the Consumer Reports website and... The S-class is in the "least reliable" "Luxury Midsized/Large Cars" category.

Oh dear... :eusa_doh:

Guessing it's the laggy screens/interface that people cry about, as that is the only thing the average custumer will understand.
