Its a trend these days and I can't fathom why. Hopefully its a deselectable option as it is with the W214.

It makes total sense with BMW’s since the kidneys are the most identifiable design feature of the brand, but looks so stupid on Mercedes models. Our E-Class has it too, and it’s so unnecessary. What’s so special about the grille shape that you want to surround it with LED’s? Lol.

The interior is almost entirely the same for those in the back, and the much-criticized low-quality parts are still there. Was this facelift just to put those damn Mercedes stars on the headlights and taillights? We already know about the hyperscreen from other models.

Who started this piano black plastic trend?
I remember everyone praising the prior gen A6 with its entire dashboard of glossy black plastic, and being confused as to why.
Now its plastered everywhere with Mercedes and BMW, and Audi hasn't really stopped with it.

Is it because of smartphones all being black glass?

This facelift was delayed in order to implement the newest tech, not for an interior restyle.

Sounds like they've done work on the electromechanicals systems, powertrains and tech stack.
Which is fair enough honestly.
