If those cheap, black, shiny, hated plastic parts won't change, it will be a great shame.

They clearly didn't change them. Don't buy into Leylandi's elaborate scheme where those exact parts are yet to be changed.

It's matterless anyways, as the interior will be a giant hyperscreen letdown to begin with; we're moving, it's just backwards.

@sako97 and @Mr. Mercedes

You nailed it.

The interior was the main weak point of the current S, everything else is class leading.
If only they could’ve improved from the W222 interior & try modernize it for the W223, put an IWC clock in the middle like usual with wood trim surrounding the dash. Also Bigger Screens with thinner bezels at the back along GLC EQ-like seat panels with Manufaktur stitching as standard.

A folding screen with dials or wood like the Conti GT would be a dream.

All they really need to do with those gloss black panels is offer an option to replace them with a wood veneer. Don't even need to redesign them. f#ck it, even a high quality soft-touch matte plastic would be fine.

Little recap of some official information shared by MB with journalists who attended the car’s pre-preview :
  • New V8 Engine: The new flat-plane crank V8, named the M177 EVO, will debut in the S580. Specifications are approximately 537 hp and 750 Nm. It features a mHEV BSG (Belt-driven Starter Generator) hybrid system—meaning no full-electric coasting—and is fully Euro 7 compliant.
  • S580e PHEV Updates: The plug-in hybrid will also see improvements. The 3.0L engine increases from 367 hp to 449 hp, and the electric motor receives a boost of about 10 hp, bringing the total output to 585 hp.
  • Engine Lineup: The S350d, S450d, S450, and S500 models are confirmed. Both diesel variants will be equipped with an electrically heated catalyst.
  • Major Investment: The Mercedes CEO mentioned a significant investment for this facelift, with roughly 50% of the components redesigned (approximately 2,700 parts).
  • Design Changes: Aesthetically, the front grille has grown in size, and—as previously noted—the front and rear light signatures will feature three-pointed stars.
  • Software: The MB.OS has been overhauled to provide a more "intuitive and personal" experience.
  • Suspension: While the hardware of the E-Active Body Control system remains the same, it can now receive data from other Mercedes vehicles via the cloud (Car-to-X), allowing it to adapt preemptively to road surface conditions.

The most important part was improving the interior quality and fixing some design flaws. Nobody had any problems with the engine or technologies. Apparently, the silly door panels haven't been changed and a superscreen has been added. I hope the prototype proves us wrong, but I have little hope.

Music to my ears. It's a miracle that it's avaiable just a mild hybrid.

This is the most stupid thing I have ever heard.

Wouldn't be easier to make the damn car scan the road ??

But hey , if they can hype a damn thing , be sure they will do it.

Fun fact , if you look closely at the video posted with Ola , you can clearly see many jiggles....Not so smooth

The camera changes the angle so many times during the drive. Haters like me would say that the camera change is intentional to hide the jiggles....

Starting at 2:55 , first jiggle

It's obviously an additional layer to the tech which already has integrated scanning.

Your visual observations regarding ride remind me of a a former member who could judge aerodynamic performance of a vehicle etc, just thorough his static visual observations. Very impressive gift.

Let me reiterate, so that the rushed fanboys stop hitting those keys

When I said road scanning , I meant real road scanning ( Lidar aka lasers , or radars )

I have driven the W223 , and felt nothing revolutionary . Maybe like 10-20% better than W222.

Cameras are not that great for truly understanding things (ahem , Tesla )

Again, I would suggest the fanboys to see that video again , and focus on the jiggles

The 222 and 223 aren't fundamentally different cars. As far as I know, they both use the same platform. So 20% is a good percentage.
