i8 Leaked? BMW i8 Spyder

The BMW i8 is a plug-in hybrid sports car developed by BMW. The i8 was part of BMW's electrified fleet and was marketed under the BMW i sub-brand. The production version of the BMW i8 was unveiled at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show and was released in Germany in June 2014. Deliveries to retail customers in the U.S. began in August 2014. A roadster variant was launched in May 2018. Production ended in June 2020.
BMW need a true performance car which makes the public of the entire world to sit up and noticed and say 'f*** Ferrari or Porsche or who ever, I want this' and frankly the i8 isn't that car. As a showcase of their talents then it definitely ticks all boxes but it's not what everyone wants............ not even close to that dream. :(

Good the see you know 'what everybody wants'

Luw.....an air vent in a cabrio? Naaah ;) :)

Monster, come on.....you're not trying to say that it can't be the car it wants to be because it's a cabrio and the Cw value might suck compared to the coupe?
I'd say a cabrio is even better, because it must a heaven to ride open and not hear a single engine sound.

I have to say I was expecting more from BMW. I'm eager to see a preview of tje new CS or a new Z car. This looks fantastic, but we already knew how the i8 was gonna be.

I hope we see better concepts this year...

The i8 Spyder definitely has potential especially in markets with an all-year-round sunny climate.
The i8 Spyder was originally part of the i8 strategy , and is seen as a more intimate concept over the four seater Coupe. Another proposed idea for the i8 is an extended wheel base model similar to the Vision EfficientDynamics Concept with a roomier passenger compartment and one large door panel for entry/exit.

The i8 EWB is currently up for evaluation and is just the standard i8 but longer but full scale styling models have been built for this purpose.

The i8 Spyder shows more progress in both interior and exterior and the final appearance that will greet you with the i8 debut in 2014.
The most intriguing part of the i8 is not only design not shared with BMW but aspects of the interior will not be shared with regular BMW's as they will be given a bespoke finish.

Yes. This was on the night someone could have had a World Exclusive. Someone started to run after the car with his iphone not looking ahead... until he ran into the back of a parked SUV.

lol... Was this taken around the same time the M6 videos were made? I see they where shot in the same area.

i8 Spyder and another car was shot in March. M6 Coupe and Cabrio were filmed in Miami last winter.
i3, i8 Spyder and i8 will shoot in China this week as part of BMWi global perspective , especially in Shanghai then onto Beijing - Megacities that generate the consensus.
Shanghai is so "freakin" futuristic and the perfect backdrop.

I do like both this and the coupe though I just don't see it's worldwide appeal?

LOL, are you seriously saying that the i8 has no curb appeal? I'd say its ABOVE most Ferrari's and Porsche's based on aesthetic value alone. And since you're speaking of the GENERAL PUBLIC, how many of those owners use their vehicles as true performance cars anyways..? 95% of their decision is based on the looks of the car, face it.

On looks it's brilliant no doubt but sadly the performance doesn't live up to the looks which is a shame. The annoying thing is once the Porsche hybrids arrives with its incredible performance the i8 will no longer be in the lime light.

I think known/famous people will care more about i8 being a "green" car than its performance. I mean, imagine you are president, some kind of politic, an actor or some other kind of big shot that other people look up to, you cant drive a ferrari or lambo, because it wouldnt look responsible, thats why many of them drive prius or some other crap. Now, if you can get i8... It looks stunning, its super cool and you will look eco-friendly.
And i bet its a great car to drive, but i doubt most of the buyers care about that. Actually lets just wait for it, because i swear so many people were thrashing 1 m coupe and m5 before it came out, where are they now?

^ You mean the Prius bunch. LOL

Don't get me wrong technically the i8 will be very clever indeed but from the stats it just hasn't the woow factor I was hoping for and could so easily have had if they had sacrificed just some of the economy/emissions by fitted a slightly bigger petrol engine. Just imagine the hype if it were the quickest car they made yet used no more fuel than a 118i, now that would have been amazing.

And it costs $800+ K. ******* troll!

Exactly! We all love the 918 and would do some unspeakable things to have one (well, I would at least :D). That being said, comparing it to the i8 is quite silly.

Best regards,

Any guesses on what the price tag for i8 will be?
