January Update 2010 - BMW : The Road Ahead

hmmm, no mention of the Z2; I guess that it's safe to assume that that will be in the Feb. update.:D

I remember having read once that a Project-i concept was due to be shown at Geneva. Could the second Concept be related to 6CS and appear in Paris?

Maybe what we see in Geneva is a more production version of the VED Concept, as Scott claimed it to be the base of the 6er CS. It would be nice, but I hope the front lights change.

Would be very, very nice! Concept ED made into a 6er with four doors. I can see this happening, because Scott said the grille of the F12 6er will be similar to Concept ED...

The term "Vision" of the Vision Efficient Dynamics Concept means that the idea and execution is a vision of how a BMW will inherit the future.
Whereas the actual Concept Car will not make production. The idea behind it will filter into the next generation of BMW's.

The car offers a hybrid look of what is forthcoming from BMW , Design wise and technology wise. Currently after the economic climate, BMW are preparing cars that can be developed off several platforms to which BMW can make money from. key models under this philosophy include the 1er and 3er platform which in addition to the core models available with the current product the new platform will produce up to Four extra 1er based models and the 3er Gran Turismo.

The CS 6 also inherits the same philosophy but with Vision Efficient Dynamics making headlines because of it's 2+2 configuration you can see that BMW have seriously thought about having a four seater performance car .

To understand the importance of the 1er in F20 guise that car will launch with the highest amount of innovations ever for a BMW.
BMW recognise that the compact segment will be the battleground for future growth and profit that is why there will be much expansion in this segment as not only downsizing cutomers are targeted but new customers also.
The F20 will see this through by offering a range of cars for every segment in the compact class.

That's something to look forward to, because cars like the E65 7er already had almost everything new; engines, design inside out, transmission, GUI, etc.... 1er will be high tech :D

Yes, very interesting. As long as it does not mean that the next 1-series will be the least BMW ever. It must have manual gearbox, no silly electric motors unless only an electric motor, RWD... light (much lighter than the current model)...

in manner of chassis - it will be

Thanks for the info, Scott27!!

Question: what can we expect will be the diesel engine in the 6er coupe or the CS 6??
Please give us a hint. Thank you in anticipation!!

630d: N57D30OL, 245 hp, 540 Nm (maybe not from the start because 6er is supposed to be exclusive. The E63 started with V8 645Ci only...)
640d: N57D30TOP, 306 hp, 600 Nm (surely from the start)
650d: > 306 hp, > 600 Nm (the so long talked about tri-turbo I6)
