iPhone Connectivity for Audi
  • Audi tunes models ready for the new iPhone
  • Full functionality of the mobile phone guaranteed
Audi and the iPhone – high technology in a perfect design. Even at the time of its launch, the first mobile phone from Apple can be used in all Audi models. The big seller in the U.S. (more than 270,000 phones sold in the first 30 hours) is eagerly awaited in this country too. According to a survey, every third Apple fan would definitely like to buy the phone and, what is more, “right away”.

Audi and Apple have been working closely to ensure that the full functionality of the iPhone is available in most Audi models. The only requirement is the mobile phone preparation with the Bluetooth interface, optionally available in all Audi model lines. Alongside the standard hands-free functions (accept/reject call/hands-free), the mobile phone preparation supports the display of the signal strength and the provider’s name, in addition to the transfer of the telephone directory including the icons “Work”, “Home”, “Mobile” and the call lists.

In addition to making telephone calls, the Audi music interface (available as an optional extra for the A5, A6, A8 and Q7) allows customers to enjoy the iPhone’s music playback function in supreme quality via the in-car sound system. What is more, thanks to the Audi MMI, customers can navigate conveniently through their music compilations by artist, track title, playlists and genre – in exactly the same way they are accustomed to from their iPod.

That's typical of Audi, building bridges to the future! Thanks Siko!:eusa_clap

Audi Is The iPhone Of Cars? Or Is iPhone The Audi Of Gadgets?

We're not sure which of those, if either, is true. But although we've got to admit we're impressed with some of the new technical features the brand all about precision has added to their vehicles as of late -- we're not so sure they're able to proclaim all of their vehicles as being equals with the iPhone. Mostly because the Apple commercials are so much better. We mean, can you really see an ad that starts out with "Hi, I'm an Audi?" But whatever the real basis may be for their reasoning, one thing's true -- the iPhone does work with Audi's MMI system. Or at least we have reason to believe it does from the press missive recently released from Audi, which we've included in its entirety below the jump.

Actually the iphone is a crappy one it lacks some serious features that we all need in a phone!

Initial efforts with the iPhone compatibility took some hits. The Apple forums were full of Audi owners who could not maintain a connection. A close friend had just gotten a 2007 Q7 and he was having similar problems with his iPhone. Whether these problems have been resolved I don't know but it is nice to see them keeping up with the latest technology.

Care to mention some? I find the I Phone to be very useful, if a little distracting, but it has most if not all the features you and I ever need in a phone. MB has yet to come up w/ I Phone compatibility but I'm sure that will become available soon.

From what I read on the MBWorld forum the iPhone pairs with the MB BT module and works really well. Many cited the improvement in voice quality on both ends and it downloaded the contacts, etc. without incident.

I do not use the iPhone in the S (or in the GL coming in a couple of weeks), I have the BT cradle for the RAZR and just leave that in the car full time. Calls that come to the car when unavailable are forwarded to my iPhone.

That's sick! So the BT module is all you need to connect your I Phone to your infotainment sys? Awesome, but what about playing your I Pod through your audio? To sick man!!! I hated the I Phone when it first came out, looked at it as a trendy piece of pooh. Then I had the oppurtunity to play w/ one this passed weekend and I was blown away. Won't buy one for another five years though, but the I phone most definitely has a future in my hands.:t-cheers:

Fanboyism at it's best if I've ever seen it.:eusa_doh:
Excuse me but as a long time GCF member I thought you knew me better. I'm disappointed to you, Deutsch... :eusa_doh: I also assumed you were familiar with the "provocative humor" (:D ) that RICHBOY uses in some of his posts (especially when talking about BMWs :eusa_thin :D ).

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
