Robert Mitchell? It was driver error. He miss-shifted near redline(3rd to 2nd, I believe) and the engine over-revved. It damaged the bearings and rocker arm.

How can you shift from 3rd into 2nd by mistake...more like 3rd and 4th.

That guy should avoid driving manual gearbox.

Auto Rev matching is not going to prevent a money shift.

As for the guy's driving skills, I don't know him. But I know other good drivers, this has happened to. When humans drive, shit sometimes happen. Especially, at the track.

In such a case, usually the piston bolt, its bush and the bearings of the conrod of the hit piston should be also replaced. Strange, that they didn't even inspect these.

Back in the day, a good old friend did the same with his E46Ci, managed to bend all 12 exhaust valves. He had them all replaced, but if I recall correctly, he didn't touch anything from the flange down.
