Nope. Gonna be between 2500-2700kg.

Honestly, I doubt that Lotus has spend any money whatsoever on trying to make the car light. I certainly wouldn't if I was in charge of making a mass volume car at cost. Imagine some engineer coming up to you and asking for money for a lightweighting program that sheds 100kg off of the weight of the car. I mean, what exactly would that do? Make a 2600kg car a 2500kg car? Who cares! That's money right down the drain. And even if they somehow did get the budget, Lotus have no clue how to make anything light. The last light car they designed was in 1996. The Evora was average and the Emira is heavier than the Cayman and massively heavier than the A110.

People who think they are gonna make anything light because it's Lotus make me laugh. In case you haven't noticed, Lotus has transitioned from a niche company making sportscars into a Geely corporate outlet for luxury EV automobiles. They have no brand values or principles... but they might survive and make money - which is what many here argued they should have done. So there you go, you got your wish! But, with that being the case, it's time to abandon your romantic notions that Lotus's lightweight philosophy hasn't long been abandoned and accept the hard truth that they won't be making light cars ever again.

When a C63 AMG weighs ~2100KG there is no way an electric SUV will tip the scales at 2000KG.

Weight is not even a criteria that SUV buyers care about and this will sell well regardless of whether it has a lotus badge on it or not.

A big part of capital investment in technological ventures is spent on technological development. Saving 100 kg on this SUV may not matter as much here and now, but when it translates technologically into shaving 50kg off the curb weight of a number of special edition Lotus super and hypercars, it will matter immensely.

0-200 in 12 sec with 905 hp is not that fast. X6M, GLC 63 s do it in similar time with a lot less hp. I’m still unsure about this Eletre…

Wicked little thing.

I spotted one of these the other day and at first glance I thought it was a Chevy crossover. Only when I walked in front of it and saw the badge.

Lotus’ identity will be completely lost with full electrification. Nothing about this or their sedan says Lotus. Good news is that a lot of people in those market segments have never heard of Lotus or have an idea what one is supposed to look like in the first place.
