As far as I know , Waymo works only on very specific streets/areas, where all the conditions work out in their favor (good infrastructure)

This is the issue right now in self driving : How to work with not specific scenarios ...

It works in San Francisco. Probably one of the worst place to drive in all of US. And now LA, probably the worst traffic in US.

Those cities are "ideal" conditions e.g roads are flat, marked roads, grid urban planning, minimal blind spots, wide roads, lots of traffic lights, minimal pot holes and not alot of buses or chaotic cyclists/motor bikes.

You have obviously not been to San Fransisco or know much about it. It is the exact opposite of everything you say - anything but flat, not marked roads, random one ways, crazy traffic, pedestrians, bikes, trams... I avoid driving there like the plague.

I've been to SF , and it did not look that chaotic to me. At least , comparing it to London or Paris , SF looks ok

By the way, it's not really that big . It does not include outside SF areas , like Oakland , where...I don't know how to say it , but the traffic is not really that "welcoming"

And when you account that SF has only around 800k people ... That is 10 times lower than London...

And now LA, probably the worst traffic in US.

I was a student in southern california for 6 months. Super kind and overly chatty people but once behind a steering wheel many people are shocking hostile.
