Boxster/Cayman (981) [Hot!] Porsche Cayman GTS

The Porsche 981 is the internal designation given to the third-generation Boxster/Cayman (second generation Cayman) models built by Porsche. Production: 2012–2016. It was succeeded by the Porsche 982.
@C4L

Porsche's are certainly expensive, especially in the option category. I went through the same exercise as you and came to almost the same MSP. Imagine if you didn't live in the states?

Also, the cars you refer to save maybe the M4 perhaps are really not competitors in my view. The Boxster/Cayman value for performance formula is lengendary.

ALL the cars I listed would be performance competitors to the Cayman GTS. The two Chevys will drive circles around the Cayman in fact. The Corvette value for performance formula is the MOST legendary I would think. Here in the US the new C7 Z51 is running with 911's and Ferraris for as much money as a BASE Cayman...

The others simply make a FEW concessions in performance/driving dynamics in favor of more complete products IMO. The M4 included as that would be no different than the C63 or RS5, even if you like it more.

Yes Porsches are expensive, duh! Ferraris even more so. The 'feel good' factors - some tangible ones and some intangible ones, commensurates with that price. If you don't get it, don't buy it.

Nope, not at all. I don't see one mid-engine on your list for example. If you don't sappreciate the benefit of same, so be it.

True but the performance is there from all of them. You could surely still buy a 4C or Evora for less money too

Who so defensive? I was just thinking aloud is all. I get the value they might have but I myself am too logical to spend so much money on an illogical but emotional car.

^Who no so defensive, I was just stating the obvious. But yes, if you are "too logical to spend so much money on an illogical but emotional car" you shouldn't. Wise choice. Just build them online.

I'll go on and on like a stuck record but I don't care; the Cayman S is one of the very best cars I've ever driven. I'm very grateful to have driven it a lot! One word: cohesion. I have never experienced a car so "together" in my life. The Internet is great for extolling the quantitative virtues of cars but not at all suited to imparting the qualitative merits of meticulously precision-engineered machinery. This is one of the overriding impressions you get when you drive a Porsche - especially a driving instrument like a sensibly specced Cayman - that it genuinely is a whole greater than the sum of its parts. I'm sorry for such an over-used cliche but it is what is.

The ride is firm and controlled yet spookily supple and compliant - how the hell did they get this right - even on 20" wheels. The virtuosity lies in a torsionally stiff yet lightweight bodyshell which can easily handle an even firmer suspension setup. Which brings me conveniently to the Cayman GTS. This is a car where you throw the V-Box out of the window, forget about lateral G and laptimes and simply revel in the exquisiteness of the drive. And that's a very difficult thing to translate into monetary terms.

yes the reviews are what i expected.. once again the GTS range is the one to have:

Just look at these things!

Go for Cayman GTS, its a better looking Panamera Mid Engine Coupe & much cheaper. Timeless. You don't need extra seats, just start acting like a nerd and you will loose those friends so quick :p

^lol i like large cars man.. and i only have one car for the moment..so i can't have a cayman as a daily.. multiple bitches need to get transported at once..
