Porsche Classic Recommissions Carrera GT In Oak Green Metallic
For the first time ever, Porsche Classic has recommissioned a privately-owned Carrera GT, making it unlike any other.
The car was unveiled at RM Sotheby’s recent Porscheanniversary auction and while it may not be to everyone’s taste, it is undeniably eye-catching.
The most obvious point of difference between this Carrera GT and all others is the Oak Green Metallic paint scheme. Porsche first introduced this special shade in 1978 as a non-metallic color before it was revised in the early 1990’s and made metallic. It’s been available most recently on the Porsche 911 R and Porsche 911 GT3 but remains a very rare color.
From the factory, colors for the Carrera GT were limited and excluding rare Paint to Sample shades, were limited to two different blacks, two shades of silver, Fayence Yellow, and Guards Red. Looking at this Carrera GT makes us wish Oak Green Metallic was also an option from the factory.
Beyond applying a fresh lick of paint, Porsche Classic outfitted the car with a pair of bespoke wheels with matte gold spokes and chrome accents. The same gold is also applied to the cylinder heads. Completing the changes is fresh wine red metallic leather with black and grey inserts, GTspirit reports.
It remains to be seen how the owner of this Carrera GT convinced Porsche Classic to work on the car. Either way, we imagine it was quite a costly endeavour.
Like all other Carrera GTs, this car is powered by a naturally-aspirated 5.7-liter V10 engine delivering 603 hp and 435 lb-ft of torque. It is rightly considered one of the greatest supercars ever produced.
