Huayra [Hot!] Pagani Huayra R

The Pagani Huayra, a successor to the Pagani Zonda, was initially revealed online in a press release on 25 January 2011. It was officially revealed at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show. The car is named after the Quechua god of wind, Huayra-tata. The engine is a 6.0-litre twin-turbo M158 V12 engine from Mercedes-AMG producing 544 kW (740 PS; 730 hp) and 1,000 N⋅m (740 lb⋅ft) of torque. The Huayra's body is made from carbotanium; a lightweight composition of carbon fibre and titanium. The Huayra has been redesigned from the ground up, but shares many visual qualities with its predecessor. The car can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph (97 km/h) in 3.2 seconds and has a top speed of 235 mph (378 km/h). Only 100 units of the Huayra were produced, each costing £1,000,000 (1.05 million US$) without options.
The engine is presented as new - Pagani V12-R - but is almost certainly an evolution of the Mercedes 112GT engine from the Zonda R as expected.

I don't think so.
The engine should be new, created from scratch and, according to Pagani, it features a 200 bar direct injection system.
The ex CLK GTR V12 was not direct injected as far as I know.

Magnificent for my imagery day at Spa with my non-existent billionaire patrons.

Who would have done the engineering work to evolve the engine. Mercedes or Pagani?

I rate the engine being completely new as extremely unlikely. Very likely it's the same block with new heads. Designing a new engine from scratch is not gonna happen for a 30 car run. Also, if it was a new engine, then it would be a bit of a failure, imo. The Cosworth V12 in the Valkyrie only weighs 8kg more, but develops 150PS more and lasts 10x longer (and passes road legality). If they had to work with an already existing engine, though, then you can understand how it would probably not end up being as good as an engine that is actually made from scratch.

HWA.

From all that is officially said and done, the engine appears to be completely different.
Still even to "just" integrate a direct injection system in an "old" V12 race-derived engine would be a major overhaul in itself.

This still doesn't mean that I don't agree with you about the comparison with the Cosworth unit: to me in fact there's no comparison at all.

Oh, awesome! Not sure why I am hearing it on Taiwanese Top Gear, though... and why the specs mentioned in the video don't match the official specs :ROFLMAO:.

HWA.

Man, you're simply too much for some of us here...

according to autobild.de the engine is completely new, developed with Mercedes motor sport department HWA AG.

I did some more research and it doesn't appear that HWA have the ability to develop an engine from scratch. They developed several engines for motorsport, but all were based on existing units. They also did the engine for the Apollo IE, but that was, again, based on the Enzo engine. HWA were also the guys who did the CLK GTR and are a partner and supplier to Mercedes-AMG, so taking a Mercedes engine and modifying it is pretty much in the middle of their ball park.

Yes, Pagani are saying in their own release that the engine is "designed from the ground up," but you need to take into account that's what all the companies that take an engine and modify it in some way say. After all, if you change some part on the engine, it's not the same engine as it was before, right? I would still bet anything it's heavily based on the Zonda R engine (or some other Mercedes V12 possibly) and it's using the same block at the very least. As I mentioned, for a run of only 30 cars it would make absolutely no sense to develop an engine from scratch (which costs an absolute fortune) instead of taking an existing engine and modifying it - especially since you've already engaged the one company that specializes in exactly that - modifying Mercedes engines for racing applications.

You might be wrong not sure if you are.
I have some contacts in pagani and it has been hinted that this engine will be the unit used in the successor of the huayra mated with a hybrid system possibly with solid state batteries ( this is still up in the air though).
So it might not only be made for 30 cars only.

However if it is and old block or not.. it’s f#cking kick ass.
The zonda ( non R ) had the ancient 7.3 unit and it was and is still to this day one of the sickest v12s made when mated to a zonda.

this thing is a wet dream for me. Pagani and HWA. Mind blown!

The specs are correct in the video description.

The intern failed in the video editing

Pagani has already said that the Huayra Successor (called the C10 internally) will use the BC Roadster engine which was designed by AMG to be legal for the next few years and the C10 will get a sister car that’s all electric, so I doubt they’ll be using this N/A engine, unless they’re planning to have 3 models.. though I hope you’re right.

Holy crap this car is insane, such a pity its not a road car shit then it would be ballistic compared for most other cars
