W1 [Hot!] Mclaren W1

The McLaren W1 is a limited-production hybrid sports car developed by McLaren Automotive. It is the successor to the McLaren P1. It was unveiled on October 6, 2024.
I dunno, the more I look at modern Lamborghini's the more I'd go to a Mclaren dealer if my numbers came up.

i do somewhat agree with you, i think it's time for Lamborghini to shelve the Countach line side profile and move on with their design, it is at the point where it is more beneficial to design something with engineering in mind without being limited to said chassis limitation

There is something off on the Revuelto for sure, but the W1 has some severe levels of generic while being pretty at the same time.

I'd have neither. In fact, just give me a CGT and I am happy. Who cares about being fastest these days? It's a silly race to the bottom.

Rimac Nevera with TT V8 comes to my mind with this. Not bad car and better then Ferrari F80.

For me GMA T.50S Nikki Lauda, AM Valkyrie and Bugatti Tourbilion the Trinity.

That definitely sounds like a good Trinity. So many cars to pick from these days damn.....

I do think the craziness of the Ferrari will age far better than a generic design, which is what the W1 is.
F80 could well turn out to be a modern day F40 design wise, but drivetrain wise it's totally forgettable sadly.

But like I said, neither the W1 nor F80 make my heart beat any faster.

The problem with the W1 is that it doesn't carry the design cues Mclaren have been building since the MP4/12C, which I think suffered a lot like the W1 does, it's good looking enough, it just doesn't look like what we imagine a Mclaren to look like. If the next round of their standard series cars look more like the W1 I think it will help it look less generic.

I don't mind the F80, but I'd never jump through the ownership hoops, even if money wasn't an issue.

McLaren W1 masters snow and ice in sub-zero testing

  • Comprehensive cold weather testing programme for McLaren W1 prototypes in the Arctic Circle completes validation of key vehicle systems and capabilities in sub-zero conditions
  • Optimisation of chassis, traction control, torque vectoring and electronic stability programme systems on ultra-low grip surfaces ensures that the 1,275PS and 1,340Nm power and torque produced by the epic new V8 hybrid powertrain at the heart of W1 can truly deliver performance everywhere
  • Stress testing of HV battery, gearbox and new MHP-V8 engine in extreme cold pushes durability and performance to the extremes

The cold weather stages of the McLaren W1’s exhaustive test and validation programme concluded earlier in 2025, and elements of the development activity – which usually takes place in secret – are being shared publicly.

Same, but I am still nowhere near titillated as was or still am with the P1 or the F1. The P1 is just an emotive almost feral design and the F1 is just a unicorn. The W1 is very much by-the-books McLaren, which has an appeal but its feels that the appeal is rationalized.
I Agree. The W1 looks technical, not exotic or sexy. Then again the F80 doesn't visually fill my stomach with butterflies.

Yeah, another car that I've grown to like more and more. In terms of non-tangible (and tangible) charms, I think the F80 has it beat since a) Ferrari is just a more emotional marque, and b) their recent Le Mans efforts have yielded victories, and the 499P's powertrain is related to the F80. While I can't assuredly say if those attributes count for something among folks in that strata since I don't hangout in those circles, I imagine to highfalutin folks it does matter. ;)

I think the same today as when I saw them for the first time; I absolutely love the F80, despite some strange black areas…. The W1 says nothing to me, what a passive and dull design.
