The new (Non-Europe) Mondeo is a very handsome looking car.

Squint and it could be an Audi… ;)

The camoed car clearly has smaller wheels (and wheel arches) smaller front grille (more like in the next B10 A4) and different looking mean headlights (the lower ones)... and in my opinion it's a lot more than 2-5% of differences.
Maybe the S6 or RS6 will look more closely to the concept cars.

"98%" ? Or "95%"? Or "90%"?

All are figures that have been tossed into the speculative arena.

As said, the camo can be very deceiving.

...also a matter of the angle from which an image is taken:

Even the universally applauded concept looks "weird" in this particular shot methinks. And leads me to believe the "95-to-98% figure" after all.

^^Case in point:

On a further side note:

It's clever how Audi designers have extended the crests of the bonnet sculpture tendons into the front side-glass sills (mirror mounting points). This visually elongates the bonnet. We'll also see a derivative of this on the production version of the Grand Sphere concept (A8 etron ?).

You can see various design elements from the concept have made it to the production model.
So A6 becomes a five door? What happens to the A7?

I'd say it's going to die after this gen.

Audi's portfolio seems on its way towards a major change.

An A7 etron Sportback does appear unlikely. Should the J1-platformed etron GT soldier on for the next 4-5 years, it may be considered "The A7s' electric spiritual successor".

Of course, with the VAG Groups' PPE (later SSP) offensive, it remains questionable whether we'll see a "J1 II" toolkit succeeding the current J1. Thus, Taycan and eTron GT successors may very well be based on the PPE (SSP) platforms as well. From what I've understood, the electric Porsche Boxster/Cayman successors due in approximately 2 years time will also be PPE-platformed cars.

Back to the A6 etrons... Apparently, a "China Only" 4 door LWB "notched" sedan version with a separate boot will be presented and manufactured in Chinese FAW/Audi joint-venture production facilities.

Audi told Thomas from Autogefühl that they predict liftbacks will replace sedans in America and Europe. Sedans will still be popular in China for some reason.

Since the PPE platform won't be used for cargo vans like the MEB platform they can move a lot of electronics under the rear seats.

It will be from their own sedans since Audi's predictions are not precisely those of Nostradamus, in 2012 when they sold 100/200 thousand cars less than BMW and MB their CEO predicted that in 2015 they would be number one in world sales and today they sell a million less than its rivals

It is evident seeing the 2021 sales of the 3 series + 5 series adding more than 800,000 cars

...and it is speculated that it will have a...frunk.

It looks like it as they have also just launched the Q6 in China. It does seem to look different from other Audi SUV's and is a rival for the X7 and GLS for Chinese market.

Ooh dear even Audi is adding in split lights, @Oida are you sure this is not the next BMW i5? Even the door handles are looking BMWish.

@klier what you think of the bonnet shut line?

I think that the camo may be deceiving. The bottom headlamp strips appear to be "masked" with some sort of transparent material that covers (and visually smoothen) the indented projector housings. I suspect that the facia of the production car will not be far removed from that of the concept(s).

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
