A3/S3/RS3 [Hot!] Audi A3 Clubsport quattro

The Audi A3 is a small family car (C-segment) manufactured and marketed by Audi AG since September 1996. The first two generations of the Audi A3 were based on the Volkswagen Group A platform, while the third and fourth generations use the Volkswagen Group MQB platform.

One of the great things about Photoshop is that it allows pretty much anyone to envision cars that would take auto manufacturers months or years to create. With a basic amount of time and skill invested, you can have whatever you want. Like the A3 clubsport quattro concept from Worthersee? Would you like it more as an Avant?

Maybe it should have seemed obvious. The A3 sedan embraces the size and packaging of the B5 A4. That’s all well and good, but when you start showing concepts like Worthersee’s A3 clubsport quattro with its blown 5-cylinder TFSI and blister fenders, then you start thinking RS-cars like the RS 3… or maybe the B5 RS 4… and when you think B5 RS 4 then you think Avant.

That’s what we were thinking, and we’re guessing that’s what X-tomi Design was thinking when they put together this render of an A3 clubsport. Frankly, we think it looks cooler as an Avant, and we think Audi should build it.

Will Audi build it? We asked Audi’s head of development Dr. Ulrich Hackenberg about whether an Avant A3 made sense given the success of the Volkswagen Jetta (now Golf) sports wagon. Hackenberg didn’t tell any secrets, but what he did say was that such an expansion of a line would be so much easier under the new MQB architecture.

So there you go? Should they build it?

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
