F80 [2025-] [Hot!] 2024 Ferrari F80 - it's Official!

The Ferrari F80 (Type F250) is a limited production mid-engine, hybrid sports car. Designed and named to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the company, it serves as a successor to the LaFerrari.
it will be interesting to see what it can do around a circuit, especially circuits with a lot of high speed corners

as for acceleration, we know that a LaFerrari did 0-200kph in 7 seconds and reached 300kph at 17/18 seconds

the F80 does the 200kph sprint in 6 seconds, but does anyone have an estimate for the 300kph time? the Venom GT/Veyron SS does it in 13/14 seconds and both have around the 1200hp

The new steering wheel for the F80

The physical start button is finally back!
Yes! Starting this month, Ferrari will offer a new steering wheel (optional) for its entire range (296, Purosangue, SF90, 12Cilindri, Roma Spider, Amalfi). For customers who have already taken delivery, they will be able to purchase it directly from the dealers, who will also handle the installation.

Also called peanut gallery.

I honestly don't get what it is that people want/expect. You have the F50, Enzo, Laf AND SP3 (the mid engined ones at least) - and they want the all-new F80 to just be an improvement/rehash of those? I understand Ferrari wanting to move on. I personally think the F80 is a breath of fresh air. And if you're a billionaire I'm sure you will have several mid engined V12s from Maranello available......

Also it's pretty damn clear that the car is fun to drive and fast as fcuk. One can only applaud what Ferrari has done here. I just don't get the hate. People seem to think counting cylinders is what matters most.

I think it is some herd backlash to the downsizing we saw in the industry and now anything < 8 cyl needs to be shat on and anything >= 8 is to be celebrated as the 2nd coming.

I think if Ferrari wanted, they could have broken Koenigsegg's fresh production car record quite easily.

All talk and no substance, that's how we like our Ferrari!
But I guess they didn't "want" to be the fastest.

They could have made a statement you say, but still refused to do so with their brand new hypercar and the whole car world watching Goodwood.

Utterly pathetic. Truly.

Actually, even 8 cylinders aren't enough for a hypercar.
And 6 cylinders is all kinds of pathetic. Ferrari made a huge mistake with this car. A f#cking V6 in this thing..... LMAO. Jaguar XJ220 all over again.

I totally understand the frustration. But my post was a simple observation that should be obvious to anyone who watched the clip. That F80 run was 1.9s slower than Sadair's Spear's record. Had Raffaele de Simone turned on launch control at the start, instead of making a smoke show for the crow, the record would have gone to Maranello.

The thing is, Ferrari doesn't need to prove anything to anybody. Their name is synonymous with the most prestigious motorsport leagues. When you've already made statement against the best in the world by winning Le Mans three times in a row, you'd have to be stupid to build your marketing strategy on setting track records with road cars. That's for the little guys like Koenigsegg and Czinger, who can only dream of ever getting into Formula 1 or WEC.

There's no concrete parameters a hypercar has to have. It's an entirely subjective label.
F40 is a beloved Ferrari icon despite the turbocharged V8 and unconventional design. Many even prefer it over F50... imagine that.

Bad weekend? Did you perhaps lose money on sportsbet.com? Grumpy.

FOS Hill Climb records are for shits and giggles - pure entertainment for the most part - and even the manufacturers taking part don't take things all that seriously.
Negative optics by choosing not to go for an official timed run? Hardly.
Negative optics by binning your box-fresh CS Touring into the hay bales. Significant. In fact, utterly pathetic. Truly.

All of us old car dogs love V12s. But, the traditional Ferrari NA V12 is a thing of the past in their halo car. This isn't XJ220 all over again - it's nowhere near and you know it. The augmented ICE powertrain is the order of the day and it's just backward to nowadays be appraising based on one's ability to count cylinders. The game's moved on - surely you recognise this?

A few things...
1) Nobody craps on Porsche for their 6-cylinder sportscars. Granted, the last hyper-type supercar they had with 6-cylinders is the Strasse-version GT1. But their modern flat-sixes are peaches.
2) Hardly any, if any, person craps on the Ford GT's engine. It was initially shocking upon its debut, but it's generally considered an impressive car.
3) Many powerplants that are 8, 6, and even 4 cylinder are able to be about as power-dense as a V10 or V12 from 10-12 years ago. It seems these days, the big differentiator is aero. When packaging is paramount when considering maximizing aero capabilities, then smaller engines will be used. I guess one can make the argument that a GMA T.50 was able to pull off what Ferrari could not. And I don't want to see a 4-cyl in super/hypercar no matter what their provenance is or how interesting their configuration may be...I am looking at you with your V-4, Porsche 919.
4) Despite being a more emotional argument, I can still see it as a valid argument since V12s are so very much synonymous with Ferrari.

As a side note, I'd one day love to see high-revving mid-engine V10 from Ferrari. It's not going to happen, but I'd still love to see that.

I wouldn't even say that it sounds bad. It's just quieter than 296 because of senseless bureaucrats.
^^sound clip on the last slide^^^

If lacking volume of engine sound means that you can't appreciate mega high specific output, zero turbo lag, linear power delivery and 9,200 rpm rev limit (plus there's an exceptional DCT bolted to that engine), maybe you're just not into cars. There's always hi-fi or some musical instrument hobby to get into.

I believe the new steering is replacing the old one, not a cost extra, and will be rolled out across the entire range over the coming year.
