CLS [Hot!] 2021 Mercedes Benz CLS facelift (mopf)

The Mercedes-Benz CLS (initially called the CLS-Class) is a series of executive cars produced by Mercedes-Benz from December 2003 to August 2023. The original model was a four-door sedan based on the Mercedes E-Class platform, marketed as a four door coupé. An estate (shooting brake) model was later added to the model range with the second generation CLS.
Looks absolutely stunning in this video!

A beautiful automobile indeed. And it makes me all the more sad that the C257 is quickly approaching its' terminal breath.

An interesting piece of somewhat related information:

Here in Germany, the sales of the C257 CLS have sadly trickled to almost...nothing. In the broader scope of domestic luxury vehicle unit registrations, the Porsche Taycan again took last months' top podium, followed by the W/V223 M-B S-Class and BMW 8er (!) respectively. Including the Audi eTron GT, VAG J1 (Taycan + Audi eTron GT) accounted for nearly a quarter of segment registrations. Electric cars seem to have fortified their presence in the luxury segment. And apparently, orders for Audis' eTron GT far exceed those for the A/S8 or A/S/RS7 Sportback. It will be very interesting to see how the M-B EQS fares in its' segments' marketplace.

I’m very curious to see how these electric cars range suffers at full chat on the autobahns.. especially the etrons and taycans that are abysmally low on range. Separately, if I read correctly they are limited to 130(?). Compare that to high po cars like E63/ M5 that get dangerously close to 200mph, not sure if it would be everyone’s cup of tea.

That's why (some) manufacturers are limiting the stop speed of their EVs at 180 km/h or even less.

Vmax on the Audi eTron GT is 245 km/h (RS 250 km/h). 230 km/h is the base Taycans' Vmax, 260 km/h is the Vmax of both the Turbo and Turbo S (with most road tests registering Vmax readings in the high 260s' km/h).

In my country, C257 is selling at deep discounts (around 15% off, plus they are priced lower than C218 to begin with). I think it's ironical that the CLS with the shark face has finally jumped the shark.

I blame the rise of the SUVs. They are getting better and better and more and more car-like while offering much more differentiation.
No not at all. It’s all Mercedes fault by muddying the waters with the AMG GT 4 door in the CLS’ space/niche, then they failed to keep the CLS different enough from the the E-Class interior wise. Then on top of that the CLS doesn’t drive as well as the E or AMG GT 4 door. The purposely or inadvertently killed the CLS. Then yes SUVs are preferred but the 4-door AMG outsells the CLS and it does so for a premium which is why MBUSA has all but dropped the CLS, with only the 450 being on sale here now. Meanwhile the AMG GT 4-door has a 43, 53, 63, 63S and now the E Performance model. When I drove the CLS 450 I was shocked how poorly it drove, stumbling over bumps in the road. Several testers have panned the car for its poor ride/handling balance too. It’s a sad ending for a former big star in the MB lineup.

I've heard similar things about the suspension tune. I wonder if they just didn't give the CLS the development and tuning attention it deserved.

It really is a sad end to what is an incredibly acctractive vehicle.

The FL is too little too late.

And I'm sorry but people are not going to pay s class money for something that shares an identical interior with an E. It's not as if the E interior was a quality stand out by any means. It reeks of cost cutting.

Mercedes also tamed the exterior design of the CLS which is pretty but doesn't blow the gorgeous Eclass off the road.

The lack of a 63 AMG model further lessened the appeal of the CLS as a prestige saloon.

Yep-I remain sad that these will soon be leaving us:

...and that we'll be left with (exterior design-wise) the EQE sedan. Very sad, indeed.

Just found this cool CLS 53 (vorMOPF).
I think that with those wheels from the GT 4-Door, the Panamericana grill and this gorgeous designo magno color, the car looks hot AF.
Like a little brother of the GT 4-door, only 30-40k € cheaper.

I've always preferred the C257 to the X290.

I have never seen a more gorgeous car that was doomed. I haven’t seen a new CLS on the road or on a dealer lot in 2 years. MBUSA has totally given up on the car.

Not much different than in Europe, I suspect.
