M2 [Hot!] 2020 BMW M2 CS

The BMW M2 is a high-performance version of the BMW 2 Series automobile developed by BMW's motorsport division, BMW M GmbH. As the 2 Series replaced the 1 Series coupé and convertible models, the first-generation M2 was marketed as the most basic M model in the range. Official website: BMW M
At £75k its a no from me. Did originally want one, but not at that price point. They say its a racecar with license plates but a lack of buckets suggests otherwise.

smart man would just get a used m2 competition if he really wanted one. Or a used gt4 or a early 991 GT3

Deposits for the car were being taken in 2016 apparently, so the cars been confirmed for quite some time now.

1,625kg to EU1 standard. 1,650kg when equipped with the M DCT.

Yes my friend worked at bmw mayfair and told me to not bother putting in a deposit as he already had 4 infront of me. This was 3 years ago. However all those deposits where off the back of a m2 CSL, not a m2 CS.

I’d take a C8 Corvette (even pay a little over sticker) and call it a day with all bases covered.

I have a strange feeling I will be saying this a lot.

I'm still waiting for a proper, lightweight (if it's even a thing in 2019), hardcore BMW CSL-model... :(

Have to disagree. I am just an average driver and there are lot of back roads where I live where I can thoroughly enjoy a good sports car without doing anything dangerous or crazy.

And I don't know about a 320d, but we have a 328i (previous gen - F whatever). It is not a great car to drive. Steering is shit, suspension is floaty, brakes are grabby, accel...
I know Sunny. We have some wonderful roads in Sweden too where I can drive my car and motorcycle and enjoy them. But you don't need to pay a fortune for car to have the time of your life, a hot hatch is awesome too.

A 3-serie will do just for fine for most people, because they don't even know what a good steering feels like. ;)

BTW a M2 CS in 3 years, prices should drop until then and offer a good value. It's not a M3 CSL so it won't hold its value.

Yep. It is a pitty with BMW M and its CS models :(
The setup/tweaking is spot on (at least with M3/4 CS) ... being the nice balance between still everday driveability and sporty engagement!
But pricing? C'mon. The recipie for the CS is basically:
Slight engine sw tune.
SW tune for adaptive dampers
Wheels from existing accessory program
Front/rear carbon spoiler
Carbon hood
Minimal interieur styling changes.

In case of F8x BMW demands the price of a base 1 series for these changes!
Normal F8x owners get the performance relevant sw tunes for some hundred €. The accessory wheels plus CS front/rear spoilers you can get for around 6k €. So this saves you approx. 30k€ compared to a CS, but you have a car which drives exactly like a CS and almost looks like ... BMW has to think about its CS pricing imho ...

Apparently, despite all the cool carbon bits it's no lighter than an M2 Competition. Law of diminishing returns applies well here. Still, money aside, it remains a rather special machine and those who are lucky to enough to get their hands on one won't be disappointed - that's for sure.

A 3-serie will do just for fine for most people, because they don't even know what a good steering feels like.
Nonsense about steering feel in a 3er! In mine, I can feel perfectly fine that it's shit.

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
